I have this on DVD (who doesn't?) and it looks amazing already on my HDTV. I couldn't imagine how awesome it'll look in Blu. This will be tough for me to double-dip on, though, because it's a kids movie and the wife might not speak to me if I buy another copy of something that we already own. I did that with Transformers and thought we'd be divorcing shortly after, based on her initial reaction.

Being an old animated film, what would the final render have been? DVD etc? Not like it was shot on film.

There is quite a few 1080p caps of this floating about and it looks amazing.

Finally, sources are telling us that Buena Vista is currently planning or starting work on new Blu-ray editions both Toy Story 1 and 2, in anticipation of the 2010 theatrical release of Toy Story 3, as well as the original Tron, planned to tie into the 2011 release of Tron 2.0. We also hear that work has finally begun on a new Blu-ray release of Armageddon, for release later in 2009 or early 2010.
