Caleb Landry Jones will co-star with Ralph Fiennes, Rebecca Hall, and Mark Strong in “The Forgiven.”

John Michael McDonagh is directing the film, which is an adaptation of the novel by Lawrence Osborne. It deals with the reverberations of a random accident on the lives of an English couple, their friends and local Moroccans who all converge on a luxurious desert villa during a decadent weekend-long party.

Production is slated to commence early this year in Morocco. Elizabeth Eves will produce alongside McDonagh through their production company, House of Un-American Activities. CAA, which arranged financing, is representing the US rights. Meanwhile, IMR International is handling the foreign rights.

Jones also recently signed on to join Tom Hanks in Amblin’s sci-fi film “Bios.” He will portray a robot in the movie that follows the last man on Earth. His upcoming credits also include Jim Jarmusch’s “The Dead Don’t Die,” “The Outpost” with Scott Eastwood, and Lone Scherfig’s “The Kindness of Strangers.”

He was in three of last year’s Oscar favorites: “Get Out,” “The Florida Project,” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.” On the TV front, he appeared in Showtime’s revival of “Twin Peaks.”

Jones is repped by ICM Partners, Untitled Entertainment and attorney Greg Slewett.

Managed to catch one of the few screenings in the entire state of AZ over the weekend. The small theater was pretty packed which made me happy considering this is yet another week where a major release I have no interest has pushed a bunch of smaller releases out of theaters.

This doesn’t break any new ground or say anything new but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Looks fantastic (great test of just how bright your theater’s projection really is thanks to the desert shooting locations) and has an impressive ensemble cast with Smith and especially Fiennes the standouts. Fiennes has a very difficult task of making a cynical upper class prick sympathetic and he somehow manages it by the end of the film. Chastain’s character is kind of flakey and and poorly developed but she still does her best with the material. And I’m always happy to spot Saïd Taghmaoui in something ever since enjoying his performance in Three Kings. Worth a rental if it doesn’t show up at your local cinema.

managed to catch this in northern va (at the largest amc in the state) using a-list, solid but yeah nothing new, really. certainly not as exciting as the trailer would have you believe, hahah. also the projectors there are more often than not in need of replacement, and the screens are also often not properly boxed, despite my numerous complaints about both issues, they seem to persist..

available at redbox today though, somewhat surprisingly in bd and dvd. might pick it up.

edit: nevermind, i guess most of vertical entertainment's titles have been available on bd in redboxes

Really enjoyed this. Definitely one I will be revisiting like all of the other McDonagh films.
