Whenever Sundance Film Festival approaches, there are always conversations with critics and others who are apart of Sundance on the radio talking about the films etc. Listening to the radio this morning, they were talking about how the buzz at Sundance is that his performance is really good.

Okay, cool. Have you been? I have twice (2017 & 2018). It was cold, but awesome! Still, that's all just hearsay, because no one has seen the film yet (including critics).

I have not been. I am normally really busy at this time of year for work, so I don't get much time.

Agreed, it is all hearsay. That is why I tried to keep my comment of "word of mouth" very vague.

I hope it turns out to be true that his performance is good.

Me too. Joe Berlinger did a fantastic job with the Paradise Lost documentaries. But, he did also direct Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.

Hoping Zac Efron will surprise us.

Agreed. The trailer gives the impression that the filmmakers saw I, Tonya and said "you know who we should do that with next? Ted Bundy!"

It was announced in 2017, they started filming in January 2018. So it’s an average time frame for a movie.

Trailer is def tonally weird and possibly inappropriate. Efron looks like he's gonna give a hell of a performance though.

Rolls right off the tongue. I never understood why studios make movies with such unmarketable titles. With so many movies coming out all the time, it's hard enough trying to compete without shooting your self in the foot with a dumb ass title. There's quite a number of movies out there that fared poorly partly because the movie had a poor title.

Because studios have no respect for their audiences and just assume everyone's part of the lowest common denominator (e.g. Sicario 2: Day of the Soldado ).

Considering Cannes is usually a breeding ground from productions with a lot of filmmakers rubbing elbows with producers to gain funds by any means necessary, the film would have likely have been in the early stages of development when the thread was started. I don’t know when it will have been shot, obviously fitting in with Efron’s schedule, but it will have likely missed the deadline for last year’s Sundance.

By what I saw about the screenplay, the movie isn't supposed to show crime scenes, this is the reason the screenplay made some sucess (won a Nicholl Fellowship Award, was on Black List...), because it have a twist considering the extremely sensationalistic title, it's more about the odd / abusive relationship with Liz Kloepfer (Lily Collins character), and she suspecting about him

I think it probably works when you read, but it's hard to "sell" a movie like this without showing what it is about, I was surprised when I saw the trailer because Bundy is using his weapons, he's carrying a naked woman's body to a forest... the movie wasn't supposed to show things like this and feel very weird and sensationalistic, it looks like a B horror movie

So the director is lying to us, or this trailer is lying to us... we will discover tomorrow, but I hope the trailer is lying because it have a lot of potential

Is the script based off of Kloepfer's book? I found that thing at a book sale for a buck about 10 years and promptly trashed it after reading (i.e. enduring) it. I wish I hadn't because it goes for top dollar now. She was off her friggin' rocker, almost as much as that Carol Boone, so it's no wonder she remained in Bundy's orbit for so long.
