Sony Exec Talks New PSP's Upgrades, GPS Attachment, NYC Appeal And More

He said that PSP owners should expect most of the functionality improvements to their PSP to arrive via the system's regular firmware updates. "There's a lot coming," he said
There hasn't been a big PSP update for quite some time now so I wonder what they have planned.

Great interview.

The system has so many possibilities, I cant wait to see what those firmware updates throw at us.

I definitely want the new PSP, if only for the video out. Stinks that it only fills about a quarter of the screen right now, but its better than nothing. And I can only assume its something a firmware update could tweak later on down the line.

also, this was interesting:

He looks to the fall's PSP exclusive "God of War: Chains of Olympus" as the system's flagship title.
I noticed eb has the game tentatively listed as a Jan 08 release. Maybe it will actually hit in the fall? Hopefully we get news of a release date soon...

I think you'll be able to change the scaling options for games and UMD movies - check out the photo of the new Ape Escape game being played nearly fullscreen at the bottom of this page.

The new psp model looks nice. It has been a while since we've had a firmware update. I wonder if microsoft had a handheld, which company would win the handheld war, Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo?
