Default Issues with Blu-rays that don’t play on BD Players

I’ve only encountered this twice. Recently with The Departed. I loaded it up and it went to the WB logo, then it went back to the main BD screen selection. I ejected it and put it back in. This time it didn’t load up, and it wouldn’t eject. I turned it off the green light didn’t turn off. I had to unplug it. This happened twice.

The other disc was American Gangster. This time it would go to the main title screen, but wouldn’t let me select a menu. Like not even the highlighted/line selection would appear.

Weird thing is both gave me no issues on my PS. And my player is Sony too. Shit is irritating.

That would happen intermittently on my old Sony as well. It got several good years of use before that started happening though, so I fixed it by buying a new player.

This topic probably should be moved to the Blu-ray Players and Recorders forum too so the natives won’t get restless.

I'm on my second player. American Gangster didn't play on my first, but I checked it on my second and it's fine.

This is why any serious collector should have at least two players, just to spot-check discs that have playback issues on one of them. The Scream Factory release of David Cronenberg's Rabid had a noticeable, irritating skip when I played it on my PS3, but when I spun it on my region-free player, it worked fine.
