This isn't going to help anyone. In the article Ticketmaster's CEO says it's the artist that set prices. Do the artists also set the hidden fees that usually total 15-25% of the purchase price?

Many artists won't use Ticketmaster (if they can help it) because they don't agree with the fees......

On a side note... Phish tickets went on sale and crashed the Live-Nation website!!!!!! Entire tour sold-out in less than 10 minutes

This is bad news all around. They already charge outrageous added fee's and this will get worse I'm sure. as it is now I usually just try my luck through Craigslist.

I have been lucky the past year with getting tickets at Face value or less minus the service charges with people who just need to unload one or two.

It's not just concerts though. Ticketmaster has most of the pro sports contracts, and many college sports tickets. I bought tickets to a Patriots-Vikings game in 2006 and the face value of the tickets was $75 each but the actual cost was $90 each. The $15 fees were on each ticket also, not on the order as a whole, so we paid $45 in fees.

Ticketmaster is one of the more abusive monopolies in the U.S. Much of their business is pure profit. Why hasn't the government looked into its practices?
