Default Which software can author BD with a lossless surround track?

Hi everyone,

I am so frustrated with my fruitless search for a software package that can do what I want it to do.

I am a musician and nature photographer, and I have just remixed my CD in surround sound.

I work in Cubase, which is where I make my mixes. For the time being I am mixing in 4.0 Quad surround sound.

Now my question is: Where can I actually create a Blu-ray audio, or Blu-ray in general, as I also make videos and slideshows of my photos with my music, and have the video be MPEG-4/AVC for video and lossless 4.0/5.1 PCM/Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio?

I have the Adobe Master Mastercollection CS5, yet I can't find any lossless audio codecs. Please help me.

Also, I am on a budget.

Forget it on a budget. The plugins for mixing in 5.1/7.1 and 3D immersive are extremely expensive - (upmixers alone chime in at $349.00). Most of the mixing suites are right at $1500! Adobe Audition 3, I believe, let you mix natively in 5.1 surround with a max of 24bit/96khz LPCM.

Adobe Audition sounds good to me then. They are not very clear on the details.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

The problem with Adobe Audition 3 is that its no longer available ! Adobe replaced it with SoundBooth which can't do half of what Adobe Audition 3 could do.

I already have it, so it's no biggie. I have already made my first downmix, but how do I get it on a disc? Do you have any idea?

Professional way:

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/blurayauthoring

Not cheap though.

I am sure there are other ways of doing this, others may be able to help you out.

Here's a good one that I've used before. http://www.serif.com/movieplus/

It's only $80 too can't beat that with a stick!

Yes, I have been looking at these, but they don't seem to be able to do lossless audio. At least, I can't find it being stated explicitly. Can you verify that they do?

Yeah, but same as above. Do you know for sure whether or not it can do lossless surround sound in 24bit/96khz?

Send them an e-mail and ask. Nothing to lose.

Ah, yes, sorry bluyoda, both DTS and Dolby have their own suites to produce lossless and lossy tracks, you are limited to uncompressed PCM when using DoStudio, unless you can get the audio encoding suites.

For example, DTS suite:

I will do LPCM. I know it will do 24 bit, I will find out what's the max sample rate today (I'll open the program and find out).

Sad note - Serif MoviePlus doesn't support surround (it will support LPCM stereo 24bit/192khz sampling rate). However, there is PowerDirector Ultra that supports DTS 5.1 Producer (along with Dolby Digital and LPCM).

Yes, that's common. Most programs of this kind support lossless LPCM in stereo, but not surround. Only DD, which is no good for me. Nor is just DTS.

Thank you very much for checking. I really appreciate it.

At least, I have my files as single lossless 5.1 files now.

I certainly can't afford to pay $1.500 for the DTS-HD Master Audio suite. That's just loco.
I am getting there. Thanks again for the help.

EDIT: Just thought I'd let everyone know that Cirlinca offers great BD-Aduio software that yields great result, and supports up to 5.1 LPCM sound at 24 bit/96kHz. I am finished with my BD-Audio, and the pictures look perfect too.

I own hd audio solo ultra and never needed the blu ray plugin. Now that I own a blu ray burner I was hoping somebody could share this blu ray plugin with me. Searched everywhere for the third party company that made it and as you know cirlinca is out of business....
