Still miss the old Casey Kasem dub from back in the day. But the dub that was made for the US dvd release from the early 2000’s is pretty decent. Though there’s a few 70-isms that they threw in there that don’t really belong. But try it and see if you like it.

Looks like either your player or TV is squishing it too much. Is there a zoom or aspect ratio function on your player? (On my Oppo, sometimes it decides to apply a weird zoom setting on 4:3 sources.)

I'll have to check, thanks. I know I have a aspect ratio button on my remote for my tv...I'll give it a shot. It's set to normal now. Would Wide or Panoramic reproduce how it's supposed to look?

It was produced at 1.33:1 AR, like all TV shows pre-2000 or so. If it looks like a 1.33:1 or 4:3 film you own, you did it right.

It's more likely your player, unless your TV does H-Fill or whatever. Play with the settings until it looks normal. Easiest way is to pause with something round like the moon, steering wheel, etc. (Oval = bad, circle = good.)

I have to give props to Sentai Filmworks. When I got my Gatchaman set around release day it's slipcase came all bent and creased, we'll I contacted them and they said they'd replace it, no problem. Well it slipped my mind as I packed the set away and just remembered about it as I unboxed it for a rewatch. Having zero shame I contacted them and those fabulous gents overy there are still honoring it, after 5 years. That's incredible.

I was going to (probably) pass on the Gatchaman II and Gatchaman Fighters - yeah it's cheesy, but I really love the dub for the first series, and no dub kinda took the wind out of my sails - but getting both sets for 6 bucks, how can I pass that up.

And fast shipping too! Both showed up yesterday after getting my ship notice on Monday.

Looks like it's possibly OOP. I ordered it back on the 8th of December from Right Stuf Anime, and it has been backordered ever since. Right Stuf removed the product page for it, but it's still up on the Sentai Filmworks site (albeit listed as Unavailable).

I wonder if Rightstufanime will ship this new one to the people who ordered the now OOP one. I know it's not going to happen, but I'm wondering why they aren't just cancelling orders by now.

So I'm guessing they aren't going to fix the issues with the previous set?

- Most extras are in the wrong aspect ratio - stretched to 16:9 instead of preserving the correct 4:3 aspect ratio.

- Incorrect black level on all episodes, creating a washed-out image with weak colors and washed-out blacks.

This is a missed opportunity. I sold my old set due to these issues. If they had fixed them this time around, I would buy it. Alas, I'm pretty sure they did nothing to correct these issues.
