In the US it will stream on Hulu. Can't wait. Will binge the original 1985 TV show first though.

It's really good. I watched it about a month ago and binged through it in a couple of days which is unusual for me.

Surprised that there isn't more traffic here. This has been available on Hulu for a few weeks. I have now watched 5 episodes and really like it. It isn't just a modernized reboot (no pun intended) of the original series/movie. Yes, it also has many well-shot scenes on a U-Boot, but the scope of the series goes well beyond that, also following events on land related to the resistance in France. While it can't replicate the visceral impact that the original had when it came out (which many other movies have attempted to copy since), it has more complex and intriguing storylines. It also has very good actors and great production values. The dialog is multi-lingual german/french/english.

Actually, the original was also initially produced as a miniseries for German TV. I wonder if that version still exists somewhere and if we will ever see it stateside? Much more interested in that than this new series.

There is a very good German release on Blu-ray:

It's english-friendly, but region B and mastered in 25p. BTW, the original 1981 theatrical movie came first, the TV miniseries was produced later (in 1985), and there are two slightly different versions of it (one is divided in 3 and the other in 6 episodes).

I'd recommend to give it a chance, without having the expectation that it's like the original. It's different but good IMO.

I heard that Season 3 was going to be filmed in 8K but haven't heard anything after that.
