Cool, a must buy!
Mind, I was disappointed the film didn't cover the posties' farting habits as much as the book did ![]() Last edited by Ste7en; 02-18-2019 at 02:24 PM. |

Interesting that Eureka! is giving this such a lavish edition. I guess it's down to just how many new interviews they were able to get (possibly a record at nine, or ten if you include the audio commentary) and then the lengthy archival extras, coupled with the Stephen King name.
I suppose this is yet another film/book King doesn't want to talk about, but it is a bit strange that there is no involvement from Lewis Teague, or that Eureka! couldn't license his commentary from Olive. Also, I'm looking: forward to the new Dee Wallace interview. |

I'm guessing the bonus disc may just be a DVD, as they did with A Touch of Zen, since it's just documentary/interview footage. Makes sense to do that, as it means they can keep the reissue just 1-disc Blu-ray (probably with no booklet too).
Anyway, cool they're giving us a Stephen King title! And this is from the Paramount library which is exciting too... |

I think this is one of the most under-rated King film adaptations. It's superbly acted by Dee Wallace and the young kid, the scenes with the St. Bernard are great (they must have had an amazing animal trainer on set) and the final 1/2 hour (do I need to spoiler this?) in the car is terrifically tense.
An absolute day one purchase, for sure. |

Rewatched this for the first time in about 20 years at Halloween and was surprised with how great it was. Very stylishly directed (some fantastic camera work throughout) and given that they were working with a real dog, there's a proper sense of aggression to the action. I still feel the ending is a tad weak but it didn't annoy me the way it did when I was younger. I think it has aged better than some of the other, lesser celebrated King adaptations.
