That would have been TOO much for the film, though. Ironically, the film version of The Mist went in the opposite direction of the ambiguous finale of King's novella.

That's the reason why it annoyed me when I was younger, I'd already read the novel and knew how that ended. Fully agreed though that this is a better ending for the film, and for me now, as I'm a good bit older and a little bit less nihilistic

Incidentally, I love The Mist, both novella and film. I do understand why some fans of the novella dislike the film ending, though.

Great movie, at least to say. Absolutely one of the best in the genre. Unbelievable acting, terrefic stuns, stylish cinemaphotograph and such a presence of the dog. The whole atmosphere with the sunsets and fogs couldn't be better here. One can only wonder how in the hell they've done all that with almost nothing? This is the kind of MOVIES my generation was fall in love with, and it was that with the first sight. There's barely a handful of movies in genre made these days of second-hand embarrassment that comes even close what this classic has to offer for the viewer. I'll hope from my heart that no one even tries to re-made this one.

So, no new scan? Same old master, possible with better encoding??
