United Kingdom D.A.R.Y.L. coming from Fabulous Films

Loved this film as a kid but have no idea if it has age well. Might be tempted.

It showed up on TV in the past couple of years. I never sat down to watch it properly but caught a few moments that showed it was worth revisiting. Good cast and nicely acted. Should stand up favourably with contemporaries like Flight Of The Navigator, War Games, E.T. etc.

Re-watched it about 2 years ago for the first time since I was a kid, and found it to be pretty good. As Martoto above said, the kids were decent in it, and it has a pretty cool story. I think I saw it on some HD TV station, and it looked nice enough. For fans of 80's nostalgia stuff, it's definitely worth watching.

Not quite as good as when I was a child but it's still enjoyable. Got this one on Vudu a while back through d2d.

Since this was a Columbia title outside of North America, this could very well mean Fabulous struck a licencing deal with Sony.

Good to see this released. Still however waiting for Stay Tuned and The Last Starfighter.

Stay Tuned came out in the US last month, so it’s still c£20 - don’t know if it’s region-locked though...

The US bluray of The Last Starfighter, I wouldn't touch with a bargepole, a typical Universal DNR and EE disaster of a transfer (the Hd-Dvd been only slightly better in this regard and again avoidable). Shame any potential release in the UK will more than likely use the same transfer unless someone decides to stump up the cash and remaster it.

Yeah sure I import many titles if I wanted to but that's why I stick to UK releases.

I still have no idea why Stay Tuned never got even a DVD release. The film isn't that obscure. Weird.

In the UK do you know who owns the rights to releasing the film?

Jones maybe?
I loved it as a kid, but cannot bring myself to buy it at that price yet.

Why do I get the feeling from your comment that they aren't a very good distributor.

Nah, I doubt Jeffrey Jones would be the reason. The film exists beyond just his character...plus he's the villain in the movie so his character has no moral standards anyway.

Is this not getting released on the 4th April, both this site and Amazon now state April 22nd but Fabulous themselves still list the 4th as release day.

Loved this movie as a kid, but I remember being very upset that The Jetsons featured on the VHS cover were not in the film.

You were expecting The Jetsons to appear in the movie?
