Lars von Trier Collection Blu-ray

On June 6 Concorde will release a 5 film Lars von Trier Blu-ray Collection.

The great news about that is that "Dogville" will be available on BD for the first time worldwide!

But not the sequel, Manderlay. Disappointing.

I can understand that.
I for myself wasn't a big fan of "Manderlay" when I saw it back in the day (I loved and still love Dogville!)

I am just happy that this one finally arrives on BD.
It was one of my most wantedt titles for years together with HBO's "Carnivale" and Harmony Korine's "Gummo".

Hoping Dogville gets a separate release. Down for any Von Trier on Blu, even his SD shot stuff.

Yeah indeed.

I saw "The House that Jack built" in theatres and liked it. But I do not want to watch it again anytime soon and don't want to buy it on Blu-ray.

The Other films in this I have not seen (Nymphomaniac) or do not want to own (Melancholia).

For me, the issue will be whether The House that Jack Built is the uncut version. I have that on pre-order from the UK. I still haven't seen Dogville, but would like to. Melancholia didn't really do it for me, but I've seen Nymphomaniac twice and would probably watch it again.

I’m confident that the R rated cut was prepared by IFC Films exclusively for the US market, everywhere else should be the Uncut version

So I just checked the individual releases, and the German release (also from Concorde) shows a run time of 153 minutes, while the UK and French releases show 155 minutes (the US R-rated cut is 150 minutes). I think I'll stick with the UK release to be safe. Hopefully Dogville will pop up in an individual release one day if I ever decide to get it.

I have copies of both the R-Rated and Uncut.

R-Rated - 2:30:49 (IFC)
Uncut - 2:32:34 (Artificial Eye)

Obviously plus or minus a few seconds due to different studio logos. I assume the 155 minute runtime is just a general round up.

Thanks! I did a bit more poking around, and I found that 155 minutes is listed on Wikipedia, which then references the Cannes Film Festival site. Maybe it came from there. Then I found this, which confirms that the Concorde release is uncut:

https://www.schnittberichte.com/news.php?ID=14045

So now the question is, how much is the set? And also, do I want to wait until June?

I hope the other films of von Trier which aren't available on BD anywhere on the world as of yet will follow.

Like "Europa", "Epidemic", "The Element of Crime", "Riget" (Kingdom)...

Yes, I did. Comes with a slipcover and in a bigger standard blu ray case. Nothing that special, but the set is at least quite cheap.

Just got it today. Looks great. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the DVD but wouldn’t be surprised if this was a new master

Thanks for your reply! And what about German subs? Can you turn them off? Thanks in advance.

Yup. No forced subs. All the on screen titles are in German though

Incredible that we finally have Dogville on blu! Annoying there’s no individual release though, I don’t need to double dip on all those others

I would have double dipped if I had them before.

I think the other films (at least Nymphomaniac + The House That Jack Built) are good but not films I want to own and watch repeatedly.

But I bought the set cause I love Dogville so much.

Antichrist and Jack are great but I don’t want to watch them again - they’re too disturbing. I don’t need those images in my head.

Lars is a malevolent genius. Irresistible, but I can only take so much.
