Solid choice for picking just one Neil Young album.

No real order
1. Brian Eno - Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks (1983)
2. The Mountain Goats - All Eternals Deck (2011)
3. Townes Van Zandt - The Late Great Townes Van Zandt (1972)
4. Mississippi John Hurt - Avalon Blues: The Complete 1928 Okeh Recordings
5. Buffy Sainte-Marie - I'm Gonna Be a Country Girl Again (1968)
6. 2Pac - Me Against The World (1995)
7. Neil Young - Zuma (1975)
8. Nilsson - Duit on Mon Dei (1975)
9. The Band - Music From Big Pink (1968)
10. Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings The Flood (2006)

Alot of the albums are from artists that released their "great" album prior, however I always come back to these ones more often.

In Utero is definitely great. Serve the Servants is one of my favorite Nirvana compositions. Nevermind is just one of those perfect albums to me. Start with Smells Like Tern Spirit and end with Something in the way. Incredible arrangement.

Me Against the World is definitely one of the greatest Rap albums ever produced. Such a personal album for Pac. It’s like the first John Lennon solo album. I feel like I’m reading his journal. Haunting shit.

I’m telling you right now Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN will be one of the all time greats in 20 years. I couldn’t believe how good the record was.

My buddy has been trying to get me into Kendrick Lamar for while now. I'll give DAMN a listen. It's been harder and harder for me to get into modern rap as stopped actively following it in the early 2000's. I'm out of the loop for sure.

I forgot about Something in the way being on Nevermind, a great somber end track, loved how they used it in Jarhead.

Yeah I’m not big into modern rap either and I wasn’t big into Kendrick before DAMN came out. Good Kid MAAD City was okay and didn’t care for Pimp a Butterfly. I figured I’d give him one more shot and boy am I happy I did. This is his first true masterpiece. Definitely give it a listen.

Also, a lot of Nirvana hardcores will say In Utero is their best record. So you’re not alone. I just like the flow of Nevermind more. Bleach is pretty meh though. Way too “garage grunge” for me. I like grunge okay but not s fan of all the Underground grunge shit.

See you’re a Stones fan. My favorite Stones song is surprisingly Mother’s Little Helper. Lol There’s just something about it I really like. Very simple yet effective tune on an important subject.

I couldn't chose between Nevermind or In Utero. If I put one on I have to listen to the other immediately. I also love Bleach but can understand why some might not like it as much as the other two. Insesticide also works great as an album considering it is a disc of odds and ends.

You think that’s hard try picking the best Beatles album. Some days it’s Sgt Peppers. Some days it’s The White Album. Some days it’s Abbey Road. Some days it’s Revolver. That’s why they’re the best. Haha

Sgt Peppers and Abbey Road are masterclass examples on how to craft and arrange an album though. I have no idea which one does it better. Maybe a slight edge to Sgt Peppers. No better encore to an album then A Day In the Life. Greatest song ever produced imo

I suggest we make this a little more interesting. Make a top 10 list but you can only pick one album from an artist's discography. For example: One Beatles album, not four. It makes you think harder and it gives everybody reading more music to look into. I urge everyone looking at this thread to only use LEGAL means to look up the music people post on here. There are plenty of options available. My list will be up later. I need a little time to think.

Okay fair enough. But if people really have more then one album by a band/musician then let them post it. This should be your honest list and if there’s more then one record by the same artist so be it.

My list re-done to one artist per record:

1. The Beatles- Abbey Road
2. The Beach Boys- Pet Sounds
3. The Velvet Underground- The Velvet Underground and Nico
4. Nirvana- Nevermind
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers- Stadium Arcadium
6. Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here
7. Kendrick Lamar- Damn
8. Led Zeppelin- Physical Graffiti
9. John Lennon- John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band
10. Bob Dylan- Highway 61 Revisited

You can even go Top 20 if you guys want. All up to you. I’ll try to think of a Top 20 list.

And I have a nice ultimatum:

How about you make an honest list then make one with one artist per. Win win. It’ll be fun to make a list then have to re think it.

I have no problem with your suggestion. My reason for suggesting one album per artist is simply to give other people more opportunities to hear something new. For example: I like Bob Dylan's songs but I'm just not a fan of him singing them. Right away I'm not going to want to listen to five albums off of one list. I admit, I'm thinking selfishly here. I love discovering new music.

No I understand. That’s why I suggest we just make two lists. Everyone’s happy then

And the guy has Bob Dylan as his avatar. I was not shocked by his list. Surprised all 10 weren’t Bob Dylan records lol
