I'll probably take a pass on this but I am curious. Does anybody know if this will be the only Blu-Ray release? With Netflix obtaining rights outside of China, I'm thinking this could be the only home video release. If so, fans had better hope Diskino presses more copies of this release than normal. (That and they'd better get a Media Psychos account ASAP.)

If Netflix has it internationally then they’re not going to let it get released on Blu-ray. I’m snagging a copy ASAP.

To be fair, some shows do get BR releases, and one of their movies got a 4K release in France (although I assume Netflix didn't have the French rights). It's not entirely out of the question that there could be a BR release elsewhere. That said, I wouldn't count on it, and would get this release if I really wanted a Blu.

- Get in on a group buy over at Media Psychos. This is how almost all westerners get their copies. The process is a bit annoying but packaging is immaculate, and the prices are about as good as they'll get short of flying to China or HK.
- I believe there's a seller on Taobao who sells copies. I've heard people have had some issues with their copies being damaged in transit.
- Apparently, there's an online Italian shop that sells copies at a significant markup. I forget which one but there's a link somewhere around here.
- JSDVD (Taiwanese shop) had copies of "Red Sorghum" for a hot minute. Maybe they'll carry this film?
- eBay, where speculators will be happy to gouge you.

Cinemuseum. They used to have some of Dislino’s earlier titles for stupid money (their last few copies of “The Last Emperor” were well over €100), but they don’t stock them anymore. Now Diskino are exclusively with Media Psychos for the international market.

School me on the process. What I imagine is that you're paying double the shipping cost, though I may be wrong. Went to the site and there is no FAQ or information that I can see. How much does it cost and what is the payment process?

Just FYI, while your steps are basically correct, the $10 deposit required from new members is missing. I wrote an alternate version here if anybody wants to take a look. The only difference is that this particular disc won't be under the WCL Group Buy sub. I believe it's under the overall group buy sub. I'd post a direct link here but I don't know if it's allowed.

Yes. If you scroll down a couple from the link the deposit is mentioned.

Does anyone know if the deposit is refundable once your copy is secured or if it's once invoices are paid? I forget if I paid the $10 or $30 deposit back over last summer, but this one is my third group by (a second one is also active now) and I'll need to contact whomever to get that deposit refunded at some point...

Per the Media Psychos groupbuy help page:
Quote:
The amount paid in deposits will not be subtracted from any invoices you receive. It will be refunded when the GB is completed, which means you, the member, have verified that you have received the Edition(s). To receive a refund please contact @Masterblaster .

Buyoyo is accepting orders for The Wandering Earth now. Total is about $77 shipped to US.

I ordered mine from Buyoyo (never used them before, fingers crossed), works out roughly €71 including shipping to Spain.

I am not too familiar with China releases like this; does it mean there will not be other distributors for this movie like HK?
I am more interested in buying something with more mainstream prices. Or Diskino would have exclusive extras on discs?
