Studio Ponoc's first Short Film anthology, titled Modest Heroes will be released on Blu-ray on June 18th. I had the chance to see this in theaters and I thought it was really nice. The anthology is on the short side, partly due to Isao Takahtata's passing (He was meant to do the 4th short), but all of the stories are interesting, and nicely animated. After the shorts, there was a very enlightening discussion with the founder of Studio Ponoc (Yoshiaki Nishimura), where he delved into the process of making the shorts, and plans for the future, etc...

Really hope they do future short film anthologies. It's a great format for films like this that don't necessarily need feature length.
