The BEST? Try Straight Wire - that'll run you several hundred bucks.
How about one that just works very well and is a great price? www.monoprice.com - Look no further and don't waste your cash. |

I have to agree. My engineer friends say that buying high-end cable is waste of money. You may have advantages which, with the right equipment, might be able to measure, but not see or hear.

i thought HDMI transport was digital ?

I don't have any personal experience with HDMI cables yet.
However, my personal experience using cables over the last 30+ years is this: 1) Never buy the cheapest cables you can find. 2) If you are running short lengths (short compared to the "standard" for that cable type/use, i.e., some cable standards specify no more than 1.5 meters, some specify no more than 10 kilometers, etc.) then a generic, run-of-the-mill cable is usually just fine. Again, just don't go cheap. 3) If you are pushing up near the high end of the length as a funtion of the standard (e.g., going the full 1.5 meters when the standard specifies an upper limit of 1.5 meters) then get the best cables you can -- even if you have to pay a couple extra dollars per cable. 4) If the "standard" is new (e.g., HDMI 1.3 which has a higher bandwidth requirement than HDMI 1.1, 1.2 or 1.2a) then only get cables that you can return if they don't work (don't get stuck with non functional cables). A lot of cables run on the ragged edge of standards compliance for brand new standards. Finally, figuring out definitively if any transmission problems are due to the boxes, connections or cables is never easy unless you have a time domain reflectometer in your pocket (or know how to make one out of a signal generator, digital oscilloscope, etc.) so eliminate one possible headache and go for good cables. Think of it this way, if you are connecting a $1,000 box to a $4,000 box does it make sense to try and save $25 or $50 on the cabling? |

I agree with Shadow... Personally I went with 'good' cabling not becuase they are the best, but I got them because they are constructed really well, carry a lifetime warranty and they look really cool.
I can never understand the customers that come in to my store and buy a $5,000 TV, $1,000 reciever, $2,000 worth of speakers and then complain about having to spend about $500 in various cables and wires. And that's going with the low end of the high-end. |

Speaker cable is always worth it for high end cable very easy to hear the difference.
I find that for high end equipment nicer cables become more necessary. I noticed a difference between hdmi-x and hdmi-3 in the audioquest line through my pioneer dv-59ai into a pioneer pro-1120 but thats just me. Cabling is worth going for at least decent cables and I find that if you already have a nice system a lot of times its worth going for higher end cables. |

I wouldn't buy it, but I get cables at cost so thats just me. AR is okay but i'd tend to go with audioquest, kimber, tributaries, tara etc.

I suggest you buy from www.monoprice.com and then buy some expensive cables from a store. Compare the two... Then return the expensive ones once you see that spending extra cash is a waste.
In my experience, a decent cable is a decent cable. It needs to accurately carry the signal put on it, and it takes a lot LESS than some would like you to believe to do this. That doesn't mean 'cheap and cruddy' - it means inexpensive, but decent. Once you understand that cables matter, but only to a point, you are good to go. Spending to much time, and most of all - MONEY - to get cabling that simply doesn't offer you any added visual value is simply a waste. Most just don't get it until they see for themselves. |

...and nickel is generally acoustically transparent to the master and what is often used in professional studios.
Consumers fall into the 'there's one born every minute' category and it is why silver plated cables and Bose speakers can even exist. |

Thanks I just figured that they were more expensive because gold was a better conductor for video,I guess I was wrong. Thanks. I need to get 2 hdmi cables, I already have 1 but since I have only 1 hdmi input I need to split it for cable and blu-ray, I already got the push button switcher from monoprice so I need 2 more hdmi cables any reccommendations?
