Default My TV has died!

I have a squaretrade plan on it that expires in a year, but last time it started acting up, getting them to do anything was like pulling teeth. I'm a college student so can't get a new one anytime soon, at least not what I want (OLED or 8K).

May I invite you all to weep and wail, and gnash your teeth with me.

RIP: Samsung un55js8500. It was particularly special because I traveled 2,000 miles across country with it.

I'd still file a warranty claim and make sure they honor their warranty.

You shouldn't give up that easily. Fight the warranty. You literally paid for it.

You should fight them if they don't comply with what they agreed to in the warranty. Take them to Small Claims Court if necessary.

If the TV has died, once a tech visits you should get a check for the price you paid for it. That's what happened to my old LG. Good Luck.

Do you have SquareTrade? A check would be nice since I could deposit it but I just wondered if I’d have to buy a new one within a certain amount of days or forfeit.

My advice ,when you can get a new TV don't go OLED or you will be in the same boat again with a burn in issue which is not covered by any warranty

Yes, I had square trade for the LG. It took the tech about a week to come out. He said it was the main board that died. He reported that back to square trade. They contacted me a few days later and then about a week later had a check for my original purchase price. This was only a $400.00 TV. Good Luck

Have you looked at QLED instead of OLED there at good prices lately HSN just had a QLED Q6 55 INCH with 4K Player and 2 YR Warranty for $899.99 the other night pretty good deal though. I want to upgrade to a QLED Q8FN 55 inch one it's at Best Buy for $1299 but i have seen it lower online at other places so i might go and price match or wait for a sale but waiting on Tax Refund though.

Remember, Best Buy doesn't price match every online store.

Don't give up. It will suck, but keep on them until you can get them to honor the warranty. These warranty companies give you hassles on purpose, to discourage their customers so they won't have to pay out for claims. The less they pay out, the more money they keep for themselves. Fight the good fight and claim what is rightfully yours.

I would prefer to buy from Crutchfield because, and they don't charge sales tax, unless the customer reside in California. Plus you accumulate points as well. Crutchfield's overall service is excellent.

That's going to be every state in the not too distant future if recent history has shown (the US govt going after online retailers that don't charge tax in every state).

It’s actually the Individual States that are going after Online Retailers to Charge Sales Tax, not the US Govt. Hence why us Most Taxed New Yorkers keep getting screwed. We can still buy from some Out of State Online Retailers that don’t charge sales tax though. FYI- Crutchfield doesn’t charge sales tax to deliver to NY at this time. They provide great service too.

The Government is going after everybody and everything for money. That's all they do! When it come the time for them to pay what they owe YOU, you have to go through a lot of rigmarole to get your money, or any other government assistance from them, that you're entitled to. That's if you get it all!
