part 5 was OK
they had to make a movie like this as jogsaw died.

its a bridge for whats to come

now i THINK they will go the "prequel" route and make saw 6 or someother beyond make a turn to what happened before part 1.

this series can go on forever as as long as theres a storyline & different gore im all for it.

the storyline is nice. they HAD to swey from part 3 & 4 due to jogsaw dying.

but my gut tells me past 6 will be in cronological order THEN starting with "saw 7" we will get prequels so jigsaw can be the main guy once again

Ah, I forgot about the box... That just shows how utterly boring this movie was.

They've got to show who is the one who wrote that note to Hoffman and also what was in the box.

I've got several theories on this but don't want to ruin other people's perceptions of the film.

I'm done with this series.
Completely and utterly wrong.

They didn't change the writing at all. Amanda was set to take over Jigsaw's work, but Hoffman was also an accomplice. However, Amanda was simply another pawn in Jigsaw's game before his death. As, the Saw films have taught us, nothing happens by chance in Jigsaw's games.

That was quoted right, I just got done watching all 6 movies this weekend. The only difference was in Mallrats he said "Tell him Steve-Dave" and didn't use the word "you".

I didnt hate 4 or 5 but I think they weren't as good. I think ending it after 3 would have made this a great trilogy.

yeah...what was in that box!? I forgot about that....hmm...

5 was the weakest...not enough torture scenes, too much in the cops life...The Saw movies weak points have always been their acting...#5 had too much acting and not enough situation...this one never had the OMG moment that all of the other ones have had for me...I was dissappointed..

Thanks for the explanation. It still does not make me like this movie though.

[Show spoiler]No, because everything Jigsaw did with Amanda was revealed to have been ANOTHER game in the 4th one I think. Hoffman and Amanda were helping him all along, but Jigsaw working with Amanda was just a part of an extended game with her, a game that she ended up losing.

I would not put it that way, but I would ask him if he ever actual saw the first saw, after all through the whole movie you had a not so dead man on the floor and an evil mastermind who was actually being tested like the rest. Saw is all about subterfuge and questioning if what you see is what you think you are seeing.

Now for my version of the answer to his question
[Show spoiler]
1) Yes Amanda was considered at some point as a possible replacement, but why do you think she had to be the only one?
2) Yes she did help with some of the plans, and yes while watching the previous episodes it was easy to dismiss some of the nonsensical "facts" (holes), like how could Amanda or Jig get the arrest files of the other criminals, some of those traps where big and heavy, how could she and Jig move them or put the person in them....
3)Jig was using both and trying to make them in this image, Amanda from the get go was more in it for the gore and revenge, that is why Jig gave her one final test to see if she would play by the rules. The rule being that we are all missing a piece hat takes us away from enjoying our lives and making them worth living and we should all have a chance to learn the lesson and go on living "full" lives.
4) your "time line" is off 1-Amanda is a victim seen in a flash back, 2-Amanda is back in a test, at the end we find out that she was not part of the test but an organizer 3- Amanda is seen in flash backs that she played a role in several other traps but always made sure there was no out but it is her big test and fails and dies with Jig, 4-people are questioning the wife and Hoffman disappears (we find out at the end that he set up this trap but not clearly why) 5- Hoffman is revealed to have helped with many traps and in many instances and is the person taking up the mantle of Jigsaw

I know, how hard is it not to go see a movie you assume you won't like? We get it some people have no taste and can't understand the saw series, why shouldn't the rest of us that don't fall into those categories not be allowed to see them?

When I saw this poster I thought it was sweet and couldn't wait to see it happen in the movie. Well it had absolutley nothing to do with the movie, unless it's like symbolic or something because other people are carrying out jigsaw's role. But anyways did this piss anyone else off?? Also I felt that jigsaw was barely in this one.

I know six is in production but seriously how far can they stretch it since jigsaw has been dead since number 3. He is the whole franchise and they killed him off. That was where they went wrong. All for a suprise ending that frankly is getting tiresome having to have a twist at the end of every movie.

What's everyone's thoughts on this movie?

When I first saw the poster I thought it was Hoffman with Jigsaw's face, but when I went to Saw-mania last year & asked Saw 6 director Kevin Greutert about the poster he told me that it's actually Agent Straham in the poster with Jigsaw's face. For those of you that have seen the movie, you know at the end Hoffman makes it seem that it was Straham that was helping out Jigsaw. Thats the meaning of the poster.

I think you have a very good point. Unfortunately and producers and production company didn't see it that way. It's turned into yet another horror franchise a'la Friday the 13 and Halloween. It would have been better to leave as a trilogy like Scream.

While it would've been great to end it as a trilogy since the series creators had abandoned it, Saw 3 ends on a cliffhanger.

It was obviously Leigh Whannell's assumption, given where he left the premise, that the next film would pick up with Jeff's story arc. Unfortunately the new screenwriters either didn't realize this or the actor playing Jeff wasn't available for long enough for them to make this work because the character occupies barely a minute of Saw 4.

Too bad, the only thing motivating me to see Saw 4 was to see what would happen with Jeff after the end of part 3.

They abandoned that and instead decided to recycle everything that'd already been done with the previous 3 films, albeit with new characters.

The same could be said of Saw 5 which is little more than an attempt to fill in the plot holes left open by the new screenwriters by backtracking to every scene in the previous movies and offering a different perspective on what'd already worked better in its execution the first time around.
