Default My Feedback

Pretty good site for talking about movies... keeping a movie catalog... maybe reading some reviews... but total garbage when it comes to selling.

I only say this after coming back from my 2 day ban for requesting a F&F paypal payment with the digital code I was selling. Now, I'll admit, I didn't read the selling rules and that's my own fault but that aside I think it was a bit harsh to delete the post AND give me a 2 day forum ban.

Your moderator couldn't just send me a PM and say "hey, read the rules next time" or something? It was a simple mistake. It's not like I was sitting here saying "you know what, to hell with their rules, I'm going to post what I want."

Anyway... after going over the list of selling rules I definitely won't be posting any more threads related to that. Much easier to sell elsewhere (which I did) and I also won't be clicking any more of the Amazon links related to buying movies. You can get your click fees from someone else.

Not much else to say. Ain't even mad. I'm actually visioning a moderator sitting at their PC desk in Mom's basement trolling the forums for hours on end looking for some violation no matter how small just so they can drop the ban hammer.

Hilarious.

Have a great day and thanks for reading. Reply isn't necessary, I know I didn't read the rules I'm just voicing my feedback on what I consider to be a total overboard response. At the end of the day all you did was assure that I will no longer be posting for sale items and will no longer be clicking to support this site.

Cheers!

While the moderators do monitor threads for rule violations, it's likely that another user (one who is familiar with the rules for the selling/trading threads) reported your post to the moderation team.

... and I'm not surprised. Never mind the fact that EVERY SINGLE SELLER I've communicated with have all requested F&F payments. My mistake was putting the request in the listing being totally unaware it was a rule violation. I have no doubt that somebody else who had nothing better to do stumbled across my post and was licking their chops doing cartwheels saying "I'm gonna get this guy banned" as they reported the post.

Childish and stupid, but that's a rat for ya. Either way, it could have been handled differently... but at the end of the day it worked out for me anyway. Still sold the code, didn't miss anything not looking at forums for 2 days and will make it my mission on these forums to never click another advertisement again.

I'm sure they'll still get their profits though. Maybe even a cut from Paypal. (Was that why I was banned? Could be!)

Meh... who cares.

The rules are there to protect both the seller and the buyer. As with any site that attracts a lot of traffic, there will be the inevitable person who will try to scam others. On occasion there have been some sellers which haven't delivered the goods and if a buyer pays by F&F then they have no recourse if they get scammed.

Years ago I moderated a forum for a popular tv show. For people who have never moderated before let me tell you you would not believe how much effort is necessary to moderate a forum. I am so glad that forum did not allow for monetary transactions as I can only imagine how much hard that makes the task of moderating.

All that to say cut the mods some slack, they do what they do for free and it is a thankless task.

To those who bust the moderator's chops for "doing their unpaid jobs"

I moderate at another forum. I would say I average an hour plus a day checking in and out. As you stated, no pay or compensation. Once you start moderating you lose interest in participating as a "member," so the time you do spend is just moderating. It's like working in a movie theater and you lose interest in going to the movies in your off time.

Who sets up the rules and corresponding punishment...the owner's or paid administration of the forum....so if you have an issue with the rules and punishment, then take it up with the owners....don't like their rules....start your own website.

Ron

PS: Sometimes the blow back from being a mod (at another site) follows you to your fun sites, where you spend your "off time". I'm thinking of a couple members here.

Ahhhhhh!!!! I didn't even think about that.... probably because if I were the scamming type I'd come up with a better way to do it than a $4 digital movie code on a website that allows buyers to post seller feedback ratings.

That's just me though.

Anyway, it's all good.
