Hi all, I just got back from setting up my new Whalen TV stand (definitely one of the hardest things I've put together) and I ran into two things.
1. The mounting bracket (the rectangular piece that the TV rests on) was crooked. I did some forceful adjusting and I think it's the straightest I can get it. 2. The spine leans forward with the TV.. which seems normal. It was made for plasmas up to 50" and the way it's set up you can see why it would lean. But it makes me really nervous. It's been on there all night and hasn't moved (this is a Samsung 50" plasma and weighs a lot!). Anybody else here have there TV stand lean forward? Is it normal? |

Yeah, but they're definitely not long enough to straighten out the TV. They're pretty small.. and the stand is on carpet. Looks like it could tip over any second!

Some issues with carpet and putting furniture close to the wall is the carpet tack strips along the wall. Sometimes the back will be on or close to the strip and not have as much give as the front part with no strip. Your best option is to shim the front of the cabinet so it is level.

I also have that same stand with a 50 inch plasma (110 lb) it also leans forward the same amount as yours. I took a level to it & it is the backbone that is stressed. At first it worried me but after 7 months. ehhhhhhh The slight tilt doesnt affect viewing at all. doubt that it will ever break. All things considerd. NexttimeI would buy a stand with a thicker backbone.

Seems like your HDTV should definitely be perpendicular to the floor. Have you checked the TV with a level to see how far off it is? Can you add some spacers to the bottom screws? Is the stand itself level? Seems that both the stand and mount should be... So many questions.... ![]() |

the stand is level. It's the backbone that is not.I have wonderd myself if it is normal for it to bend slightly.

Dude I looed at your pics of your center. By the way I really like that stand very nice. ANYWAY. I personally wouldn't be worried about it. In my opinion, I would think it's normal. I mean just think about one thing for a second. When you sit down you tend to look up at the TV (slightly) unless your stand is very low to the ground. I think it's designed to give you that "theater" type look. You tend to look "up" at the screen when you watch it in the theater. So "MAYBE" thats the intended affect. I know some of the stands at my local walmart I think have it where you can adjust it. But I'm not 100% sure on that just some food for thought.
