Arrow "Watchmen" Writer Says 20th Century Fox is Satan

Quote:
Hollywood Outbreak sat down with screenwriter David Hayter, who revealed some of his opinion on the Fox/Warner Bros battle over the rights to "Watchmen." Read his comments below and keep in mind, he not only worked on "Watchmen," but has also previously worked with Fox on the first two "X-Men" installments.

"I had worked for 20th Century Fox before, and I was fully under the belief that they had the potential to shut down the movie and remake it themselves out of pure spite and meanness. They're a rough group of people and they are somewhat ethically challenged.

After all that time to finally see the film come together properly and be directed by such a visionary director as Zack Snyder and then to go through the credit arbitration process and to finally get the credit. The movie is going. All that work, all that time is gonna pay off and then Fox comes in and says that we're going to shut down the movie.

My experience told me that they could shut down this movie, and lock it away in Rupert's vault and make it the most unseen desired cult movie of all time, but I was extremely concerned. Many producer friends of mine said the same thing as Alex - that they're just going for money or whatever - but I was like, 'Yeah, okay, but there's something beyond money going on at that studio and it has to do with Satan.'

I'm tempted to go along with his theory...

Maybe that explains why Fox does such a great job on their Blu-ray releases.

Yeah! How dare Fox get what they're owed. The bastards!!

I'm sure if this whiny crybaby got screwed out of money he was owed, he wouldn't be such a douchbag.

If he wants to talk ethics, maybe he should look at WB and the Producer who were both crooked.

I think he is more referring to Fox approach with threats of shutting down the whole project. They maybe came off a little harsh. If you just helped piece together a mastering I can't imagine the stress of it potentially being locked away forever.

I don't disagree with you, but I can't help but feel no sympathy for Fox in this case. I'm sure they were aware of this movie being made by Warner's for the last 1.5+ years. I'm pretty sure that they had no intentions of ever creating this movie, and really had no interest in it until they felt the buzz that came with the first couple trailers. If Fox really cared about this property they could have filed for an injunction 2 years ago that would have saved everyone time and money.

But you are right in a sense that what's theirs is rightfully theirs. But like I said if they still had this property I would probably never have a chance to watch it.

And again, they let WB know. WB chose to ignore that they had a claim. Plus that Producer hid it.

And they couldn't actually go through the courts, until WB showed they were going to release the film.

I can make a fan film of any Fox property I want. It's not until I'm attempting to make money is there an issue.

Fair enough... They are entitled to the money they got from WB and I completely understand that. I'm just happy that WB actually got the movie made because like I said it seems to me Fox had no intentions of ever making it.

In before the studio {be that Fox or Warner} come down so hard on Hayter that he's fumbling over his words in apology.

Seriously... had Fox been in charge of this project from the get-go, I bet only 1/10th of the people who are going to see this would have actually seen it. In other words, had Fox been the studio behind the art, it would have sucked!!!

I give WB 100% support in this case as they are often very supportive of letting the director do his/her thing without interference (as the public wants it). They understand that the people want the artistic vision... not what some pencil pushing number cruncher thinks will draw in the most revenue based on previous "patterns."

Fox are complete and utter douchebags for this whole lawsuit fiasco... regardless of their "entitlement" to the property!

You see this sort of thing play out on entourage.

But, rupert is a serious man. I dont think he would hire people to far out of his scope of beliefs.
