Universal to date in the UK has not region coded their blu-rays.

I was looking at getting the US set but when I saw the UK set up for pre order I am getting the UK ones simply becasue for me it works out cheaper.

VAT I don't mind but what I realy hate is I keep getting hit by royal mails unjustified screwover charge, slap a sticker on and screw you out of £8 for it.

I may of got it from the US only if the UK version we had to wait months like I got bourne but given its a few days works out cheaper to get the UK set for me.

I would have bought the UK release if they had offered a complete set like the DVDs, but I can't justify the extra shelf space that 3 separate Blu-rays would take up compared to the current DVD set (which is somewhere between 1 and 2 Blu-ray cases thick). I'll just wait, perhaps there will be a complete set when the 4th movie is released on Blu-ray.

Thank you all for your responses. I'll just get the first one from Amazon UK, I guess (not interested in the other 2). I'll wait for confirmation on the region free-ness but other than that, for that price, I'd definitely get the first one!

I've never actually seen the third one, is it as good as the first two?
And would it be worth to buy?

It's not a bad movie, but the reason a lot of people don't like it is because it has nothing to do with the first 2. It contains no characters from the original 2, and it's set in Tokyo. The only similarity really is that it contains fast cars.

I don't know what you're talking about, Vin's in it at the end for about 2 seconds

Will probably pick these up along with the 4th at some point.

It's horrible. As is the case with a lot of Hollywood productions that have Japan as the background setting, they completely fail to give a realistic impression of Japan and only reinforce existing prejudice ... it's not as outspoken as the horrendous 'Lost in Translation' (worst movie of the century) but it still sticks out as a sore thumb.

I don't mind movies taking place in countries outside of the western hemisphere, but they should at least do a minimum of research to create a credible background. It's like setting the movie in France and depicting every frenchman as a toupet-wearing, baguette-eating guy with a moustache... Yeah, it's that bad.

So is this confirmed that the UK release is Region locked?

I never saw the third, but I can't imagine it being worse than the second one.

The first movie was decent. The 2nd and 3rd are just awful.

And the one coming out this year with Paul Walker/Vin Diesel and the muscle cars, forget it.

I mildly liked the first and third ones which is what I have on HD DVD. The third one is fun with drifting and I doubt it's a completely accurate representation of cultures even in the drifting market there. But common sense dictates that these FnF movies are just entertainment and should not be used for research or documentary purposes. As fatediesel mentioned, the third movie is in a completely different setting with far more Japanese influenced which to me looked better than the first two. The ending introduced an interesting engine swap with the Mustang.

If you want to see another interesting engine swap check out this months issue of Hot Rod magazine. It has a 68 Camaro with a Toyota supra 2JZ motor.

Play.com Have not stated any region coding on their site for fast and furious blu-rays.

To date universal in the UK has not locked their blu-ray. They are most certain to be region free.

If there is a site that tests UK blu-rays and prove me wrong then post back here with proof please.

I'm probably the only person who enjoyed all three films.

Definite pick up if priced right. It's got to be in the $50 range... not worth the Bourne treatment.

I really enjoyed the first one (the only one I bought on DVD), and the 3rd one to some extent. The 2nd was absolutely terrible. If they sell them individually at some point, I will probably pick up the original, but no trilogy for me.
