Default Force Of Nature (Mel Gibson, Kate Bosworth)

Quote:
.

Mel Gibson and Kate Bosworth have signed on to star in the action movie “Force of Nature” with Michael Polish directing.

Producers are Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films CEOs Randall Emmett and George Furla with Luillo Ruiz. Tim Sullivan and Alex Eckert are exec producing. Christian Mercuri’s Bluebox International will begin selling international rights at the Cannes Film Festival, which opens May 14.

Cory Miller wrote the script, which centers on a retired detective who must protect residents of a building that’s being evacuated during a hurricane evacuation while criminals attempt to pull off a robbery there. Production is set to begin July 19 in Puerto Rico.

It’s the second Gibson project available at Cannes, following Wednesday’s announcement that he will play Santa Claus in the independent action-comedy feature “Fatman.” That film will be directed by the team of Ian and Eshom Nelms from their own script.

I wonder what character Kate is playing. This is the plot from Deadline (which is a bit different):
Quote:
Force of Nature centers on a cop who must protect the remaining residents of a building in the midst of a hurricane evacuation while violent criminals attempt to pull off a mysterious heist within the building. Gibson plays the stubborn retired detective who refuses to evacuate, and fights back when the thieves show up at his doorstep.
Could she be playing the cop?

Emile Hirsch is playing the cop. I find it a bit strange that only Mel Gibson is mentioned, usually reports would mention all the previously announced actors.

Emile Hirsch Boards Emmett-Furla-Oasis Films’ ‘Force Of Nature’ Opposite Mel Gibson
By Anthony D'Alessandro
June 13, 2019 12:54pm

EXCLUSIVE: Emile Hirsch is joining Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films’ Force of Nature which stars Mel Gibson.

Hirsch will play a cop who must protect the remaining residents of a building in the midst of a hurricane evacuation while violent criminals attempt to pull off a mysterious heist within the structure. Gibson plays a stubborn retired detective who refuses to evacuate and fights back when the thieves show up at his doorstep.

Force of Nature will mark the second collaboration between Hirsch, and producers Randall Emmett, and George Furla as the trio previously enjoyed critical and commercial success with Peter Berg’s hit Lone Survivor in 2013 ($155M WW B.O.). Hirsch will next be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood opening on July 26 from Sony.

Michael Polish is directing and it’s his third collaboration with Emmett/Furla. Christian Mercuri’s Bluebox International, a division of Capstone Group kicked off foreign sales at the Cannes Film Festival. Emmett, Furla, and Luillo Ruiz are producing Force of Nature while Tim Sullivan and Alex Eckert will executive produce.

Sheila Jaffe is currently casting additional roles with production scheduled to begin July 19 in Puerto Rico.

EFO is currently awaiting release of Martin Scorsese’s Netflix feature The Irishman and the Michael Polish helmed WWII drama Axis Sally starring Al Pacino.

By JUSTIN KROLL
JULY 26, 2019 3:58PM PT

Newcomer Stephanie Cayo is set to join Mel Gibson and Kate Bosworth in the action movie “Force of Nature” with Michael Polish directing.

Emile Hirsch is also on board to star.

Producers are Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films CEOs Randall Emmett and George Furla with Luillo Ruiz. Tim Sullivan and Alex Eckert are exec producing.

Cory Miller wrote the script, which centers on a retired detective who must protect residents of a building that’s the subject of a hurricane evacuation while criminals attempt to pull off a robbery there. Production is taking place in Puerto Rico.

Cayo stars in Netflix’s first and highest-rated Spanish-language original series, “Club de Cuervos.” She also stars in “La Hermadad” opposite Paz Vega for Claro Video, the first original series for Mexico’s OTT premium streaming service. David Zayas Joins Mel Gibson & Emile Hirsch In Emmett-Furla-Oasis’ ‘Force Of Nature’
By Anthony D'Alessandro
August 7, 2019 5:07pm

EXCLUSIVE: The Dexter actor will play John the Baptist in the Michael Polish-directed action pic Force of Nature about a gang of thieves who plot a heist during a hurricane, only to have a cop complicate events.

The pic is currently shooting in Puerto Rico. David Zayas joins Mel Gibson, Emile Hirsch, and Kate Bosworth, all of whom were previously announced.

Zayas’ character John the Baptist is part of the bank heist crew, described as a ruthless, cold guy who’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants, even if means sacrificing people on his team.

Zayas is a former New York police officer, and he began his acting career with LAByrinth Theater Company in 1992. His film credits include The Expendables, Michael Clayton, 16 Blocks, The Savages and Martin Scorsese’s Bringing Out the Dead. He can next be seen in Paramount Players’ Body Cam.

He played Angel Batista on the Emmy-winning Showtime series Dexter, was recently seen as Sal Maroni on Fox’s Gotham, portrayed Sheriff Aguirre on Netflix’s Bloodline, and Eduardo Magana on Hulu’s Shut Eye among several credits. While working on the crime drama The Beat, Zayas met Emmy-winning television writer and producer Tom Fontana, who went on to create the role of Enrique Morales on HBO’s Oz especially for him.

Zayas is repped by Innovative Artists, ATA Management, and Schreck Rose Dapello Adams

Would love to check this out but I have to wonder if they will stick with next month's release given the current unknown as to whether enough movie theaters across the country will be opened up for business. While some states are pushing to re-open things up, many states seem to lean towards dragging their feet on the re-opening process.

They always do these days. I've taken to only watching the first half of trailers lately - that's enough to tell me if I wanna see it or not.

And i'm in! Looks cheap, but I don't miss anything with Mel.

It's direct-to-disc and streaming. That's what the date lists at the end of the trailer. It's basically a Lionsgate Premiere movie but without that logo, which seems to have stopped being used a couple years ago.

Mel made enough off Passion of the Christ for ten lifetimes. I wonder if he just wants to make movies, or he lowdown got himself in to a Nic Cage situation?

I know he was suppose to be working on that all-star remake of The Wild Bunch.

Gibson going (mostly) straight-to-video isn't the same as Cage or Banderas or Snipes or Cusack or Travolta. Get the Gringo, Blood Father and Dragged Across Concrete are actually good movies with talent behind them, but they were never going to get wide releases.

Force of Nature, however, doesn't look like it was ever intended for any sort of limited theatrical release. But the director isn't the typical Saban Films/Lionsagate Premiere/Grindstone Entertainment journeyman, so we'll have to see how this one turns out.
