Default Speaker recomendations for Sony STR-DG1200 Receiver

I'm in the market for some new speaker. I'm putting together a 7.1 surround sound kit. My primary goal is clean, accurate sound, but I'm limited to satelites (the wife ). I know this isn't ideal, but but humor me. The sat's I've been looking at are Polk RM95's and Klipsch RSX-4/5's. Also been looking into subs and came across Polk's micropro 1000 (8", 1200W RSM). If you have any experience with any of these choices, or can offer an alternative, let me know.

Polk RM10 They are stylish and they sound amazing!!!
I have a sony str dg1000. They are warm, crystal clear, and they fill my 16 by 20 room.

The Paradigm cinema series are amazing, they almost sound like full range speakers. More expensive than Polk but in my opinion way better system.

Thanks for the suggestions. I especially like the looks of the Paradigm Cinema Micro's. Plus I have a local dealer that I can check out tomorrow.
Keep the suggestions coming.

I recommend the Infinity PS212 for a sub. It has LFE and it will make you feel like you are sitting in an imax theater. When LFE is on, it will configure the base perfectly. This sub is off the chain!

You might also want to check out the Mirage line of speakers. They have a full compliment of speakers to allow for any room or WAF restrictions.

They sound very different from the Polk, Energy and Klipsch line of speakers, so you must audition them personally.

KEF also has some nice smaller HT sat speakers.

I can vouch for the Mirage sats that John has stated. My buddies have them and they're damn good for HT. They bought it from these guys and got pretty good deals

Also check out DEFINITIVE TECH Procinema sireies http://www.definitivetech.com/Produc...emaSeries.aspx BTW, the sub for the pro cinema is good enough that I actually kept it.

Most BB magnolia theatres carry them and be sure to haggle for the price-yes it can be done.

Oh good, more speakers to check out. My trip in to my local Paradigm dealer was disappointing. It turned out to be a car audio store with a single room set up as a home theater, but no speakers to choose from. Why is it so hard to find a good home audio store these days? I'll check out Mirage KEF and DEF TECH .

Check out my Canadian Speaker Manufacturers' list.

Thanks to the generous contribution of Canada's National Research Council, Canadian manufacturers represent some of the finest purvayors of high-quality, reasonably-priced speaker systems in the world. And they are widely available.

Not that I want to confuse you anymore..although I think I may have!

Ok, here's where I'm at so far:
Still looking at the Klipsch RSX 4's and 5's.
Added 3 Paradigm models to the list (Cinema 90, Micro and 220), but may have to drop them if I can't find a dealer.
Added the KEF HTS2001.3 to the list. Specs look promissing, design is interesting, but little concerned about the lack of a grill and nested drivers.
Added 2 Definitieve Technology speakers (ProMonitor 800 and 1000). The specs on these seem unreal. I'm a little worried that they didn't list the threshhold that the frequency responce was measured with.
Haven't had a chance to go through John's list of speaker manufacturers yet. Looks like I have a lot of research left ahead of me. The big challenge is finding a store that caries any of these choices. Incase anyone is wondering, I'm just looking at my choice for fronts right now. When I make that selection I'll simply fill out the rest with other speakers in that line (except the sub).

If anyone can dispell some of the concerns I have listed above, by all means, let me know.

Wife just threw me a curveball. We went to audition the Definitive Tech's ProMonitors today. Wound up going to a BB with Magnolia. They did sound much bigger than they look. Obviously they still need a sub to fill out the sound. Also tried out Mirage's nano sats; interesting gimick, but they didn't do it for me. I left the demo thinking my mind had been made, then it happened. She tells me that she liked the looks of one of the thin towers, and that something like that might look better than sats on stands (just for the front). I had her show me what was "too big" and apparently if it's bigger then 5.5" wide, it's too big. So now I have to consider whether it's worth looking into thin towers and rearrange my budget for the remainder of the speakers. Also, tall, thin speakers (not floor-stander's) is also exceptable. Is an array of 3"-4" speakers going to sound as good? Is it worth sacrificing the surrounds and sub budget? Does anyone know of any good speakers that fit the bill? I've already seen the Def Tech's Mythos line, and some of them look promising.

Have pity on me!

in order to appease the wife in regards to looks, and size.... yet meet my requirements for sound..... we got some B&W M-1's for the bedroom (couldn't get approval for a sub though)

you might want to look at those.... I don't have the stands, but the stands look pretty slick with them too.
