Don’t wait, buy the Blu-ray of Spearhead from Space alongside the special edition DVD of it for the extras.

Plenty of other BD choices as well limited to not only the sets but the Troughton animations and Shada.

Start with the new (revived) series...

So Christopher Eccleston and onwards.

Then when you're up to date, go back and watch classic Who. I suppose if you're younger than classic Who it doesn't really matter which doctor - but as someone else said they just put out the Pertwee edition, so that'd be a good place to start.

At the very beginning, a very good place to start.

Start out deciding if you're more into the new Who or classic Who, the older ones may seem more quaint and more leisurely paced, but they're a lot of fun, too.

This is what I did! I was never a WHO fan growing up, but when the new series started (Eccleston/Piper in 2005) I gave it a shot. Became a HUGE fan!!

I've collected every season released since 2005. As for the older series before it, it's not necessary to watch them, but after becoming a huge fan of the new series I do find it interesting to watch some of the older stuff.

Word to the wise... I don't know if you are planning to buy blu-rays, dvd's, or stream it, BUT if you do buy dvd's do NOT buy from Ebay or from third party sellers on Amazon. They almost ALWAYS end up being bootlegs. I've been a victim and known many others that have bought them. Only buy from a retail store or from Amazon directly.

Ya, pretty much the same. When I was a kid Baker was my Doctor...and while I remember watching episodes I don't think I watched it religiously. Then it drifted off my radar until the revival.

As far as Classic Who goes, starting with Pertwee is not a bad suggestion, it's a mini-reboot. The first season of Tom Baker is great. But with season sets on Blu-ray, it's harder to suggest the great individual stories as most seasons had clunkers. On DVD it's easier to recommend to buy the best stories and skip the drek.

Start with the 2005 series, and if you like that dig in and enjoy.
