the bp7006 have a built in powered sub. I auditioned them at a Magnolia a few months ago but decided to go with the Klipsch WF-35's because they sounded much better to me. (That is just a personal preference on my part). Def Tech makes excellent speakers but if you're concerned about subs, well in the 7006's you'd have two.

true i was just thinking they were small subs so they wouldnt be to deep. Any suggestions on towers that would give nice smooth bass without a sub would be great. I was also looking at some of the polk tsi or rtis series.

They're 10" racetrack type with 2 passive radiators. Each speaker has a 300 watt class D amp. The good news is that the subs are fully adjustable, so you could just turn them way down. In fact, this design would give you total control over bass output. Maybe that would work for you. Also, the Magnolia Home Theater ad that came out today has these 7006's on sale. Regular price is 1,299.96 per pair. Sale price is 1,149.96. That's something as Def Techs rarely go on sale. |

The 7006's aren't really significantly smaller than most Polk towers. As mentioned you can turn down any sub if you're concerned about neighbors.
Personally I really like the BP's and am working on getting a set of my own. I can't afford the 7000 series but I did listen to them and liked them quite a bit. It's got a good bass response. Personally I'd still want a dedicated subwoofer for the powerful bass, but I think they do a great job. |
