Default TC-P50V10 vs Pioneer Kuro 5020

Soooo, let me preface by saying I had no idea that the 5020 was better than the 800u. I was under the impression that only the 111FD had the "better quality" and that was SEVERELY out of my price range.

I was planning on waiting for the TC-P50V10 because I figured that if it was a good price I could get the newest/best model, and if it wasn't THAT MUCH improved I could get the 58" 800U for a reasonably low price.

HOWEVER - after looking at Amazon.com I see that the 5020 retails for a paultry ( ) $1905!

I guess my question is whether or not I should get the 5020 or wait for the TC-P50V10. If it won't be known for sure until the until comes out that's cool, but I'm not sure if there is enough info on the V series already for people to know (plus the CES showings),

Also - will the 5020 get cheaper after Panasonics 2009 models roll out, or no?

THANKS A BUNCH!

A couple things to consider...

1) Abe's of Maine has the 5020 for $1875 with free shipping and free wall mount. So better deal there and a HELL of a price.

2) The 5020 might not be around when the new Panny's come out as they are no longer making them. I can't say that for sure but it is a risk. I don't see them getting that much cheaper but heck, what do I know.

Your choice I guess...

Worth considering if you are thinking about purchasing from Abe's,

The following is taken from the Pioneer 6020 section under the "description" tab. http://www.abesofmaine.com/item=PRPDP6020FD~item.htm

Quote:
Pioneer has chosen only a select few to be an authorized internet dealer for their products. Abe's of Maine is not an authorized dealer for Pioneer products and as such, Pioneer may choose not to honor the warranty included in the package. Abe's of Maine offers Pioneer products at a substantial savings as compared to our authorized dealer competitors. Please consider the purchase of a discounted extended warranty to ensure service.
Here is a list of authorized Pioneer dealers which includes Amazon.com

The 5020 is a damn fine set & for under $2,000 , anything lower & you'd need a gun . We really don't know what the new Panasonic's are going to be like. It's all speculation at the moment.
