Default quick HT question

I just purchased a
Onkyo TX-SR606 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver. Pretty stoked, but heres my question, will

-Polk Audio Monitor 50 2-Way Floorstanding Speakers
and
-Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System

work with the 606. Odd question, i know, just don't want to buy all these polks online and have them not even be compatible with the 606.

Yes, they will work. I would also get good speaker wire while you are at it. some 14 or 12 AWG would be best.

I use B-Tech 77's for my fronts. Look at my gallery and you will see them.

Omni-mount and Sanus also make some mounts.

I see you've done some research, but just in case you missed some of the posts about it...... get your speaker wire from monoprice.com

Don't forget to order more than you think you'll need...... better to have extra, than to run short!

I'll testify to that. Wound up 3' short on one of my surrounds. Had to make a Sunday afternoon run to Radio Shack.

Good setup. I'm glad to see you decided to go with the Polk speakers instead of getting the Onkyo HTiB.

yeah took your advice, the 5.1 should be just fine.
plus having seven speakers would be kind of an inconvince considering its my bedroom, not a living room or something.

your house looks nice beta, haha from the picutes looks like an older new Orleans style home,
but yeah, that would suck to be 3' too short,
ill probably get a big spool of 12-14 awg like an earlier post recommended.

Coming from a Sony soundbar to a true 5.1 setup with REAL speakers is a HUGE upgrade. I don't think you'll be disappointed. You still have a couple of options too. You could always upgrade to 7.1 later, simply by adding 2 more speakers, or you can use the empty surround back channels of your receiver to bi-amp your mains if you want to.

Isn't his system going to be 7.1? The RM6750 is a 5.1 system but with the addition of the Polk Monitor 50s he can use the RM6750 fronts as his rear surrounds.

I have the RM6750 and Onkyo 605 and love it. Perfect system for my apartment. But I'm looking at moving to a townhouse so I think an upgrade of the fronts will be a must. Though I will probably upgrade the center too.

If you're gonna upgrade the mains, you should go ahead and upgrade the center to match. This will ensure a balanced and matched front stage.

i was gonna toss the front satellites and just use the two floor standers.
but you do bring up a good idea.
so do the two fronts it comes with can be used as sides?

oh that is smart thinking.
would the
Polk Audio CS1 or
Polk Audio CS2 center channel balance things better?

Yes, it is a finished basement. I have one of the few 8'+ basements in my area. The previous owner paid to dig it out and make it living space. Most are 5' cold storage basements (stone foundation and dirt floor). BTW, my house was built in 1910 but my neighbor across the street was built in 1860.

lol. I ended up being about 3' short as well. I ordered a 50' from monoprice and I knew I should have ordered a 100'

Yea, it comes with the center, sub, and four satellite speakers. The fronts and side surrounds are interchangeable. So I'm assuming you could also use them for rear surrounds.

yeah i mean it looks nice, haha kinda figured it was from the early 1900's by the way it looks from the outside. i can picture it getting pretty cold down in the basment?
