The "In Memoriam" tribute did not feature Heath Ledger. I know they honored him last during last year's ceremony, however, he did die in 2008 and he had just won the award - plus his family was there. I think they could have included him in the "honor" film even though he died "outside" of the Academy year.

Most: Penn winning for Best Actor, I really thought Rourke had it / Not having a Heath Ledger tribute shown after he won the Award or during the in memory section.

Least: Slumdog taking nearly everything / Wall-e winning for Best Animated Feature.

So...

You want Heath honored twice, but Icons like Paul Newman only to get one nod?

I knew he would. I hit the mute button the second they announced him the winner. I was rooting for Rourke anyway.

Not taking anything away (or meaning any disrespect for Paul Newman) - but it would not have taken anything away from any of those shown, to flash one or two pictures of him up there. That's all...not a matter of what I want -

There was no reason to have him in again, it was done last year. I do not see the reason at all for having him again on the memoriam, he is no more important then any other actors that left this world before him.

Why not a few pictures of Charlie Chaplin too, or any other actors? I just fail to see your point in this?

Yeah I was bored out of mind. I didn't like this years. The only thing I did like was the writing awards. I like how they did that. And also how they brought like 5 or 6 different people to talk about each actor or actress. That was cool

That would have been a slap in the face {posthumously} to any of the actors shown this year or last year.

It would have been seen that everyone who died last year wasn't as important as Heath Ledger {they were shown last year but not this year} and it would have shown that everyone who passed on this year isn't as important either {as they won't be shown next year}.

In fact, that would have destroyed the credibility and respect of the entire process, elevating Heath Ledger above and beyond folks who only get mentioned once like Paul Newman and Charlton Heston.

Really?

I actually found most of this years Oscars entertaining. {which I suppose is the MOST surprising thing} As opposed to a few other years where it stretches on until 12:30 and you're falling asleep waiting for the "Best Picture" category.

They actually {relatively} stuck with their timetable this year. And they did so by throwing out 2-3 awards per presenter.

Shirley Maclaine's comment to Anne Hathaway that she has a "pretty good voice". What people don't realize is that Anne is a Soprano and was part of the All-Eastern U.S. High School Chorus performing at Carnegie Hall before she began her movie career.

She was originally cast as Christine in The Phantom of the Opera w/ Gerard Butler, but had to back out due to scheduling conficts w/ her committment to Princess Diaries 2. The role eventually when to Emmy Rossum (a beautiful singer in her own right).

So no surprise that Anne performed one of the opening musical numbers w/ Hugh Jackman.

Most Surprising: The fact that "The Wrestler" by Bruce Springsteen was not even nominated for best song.

Most Unsurprising: Wall*E winning for best animated picture.

Biggest Disappointment: The fact that they chose NOT to show film clips of any of the nominees performances this year. That is one of my favorite parts of the Oscars!

Second Biggest Disappointment: Mickey Rourke not winning best actor.

Third Biggest Disappointment: The fact that the academy continues to ignore comedic performances in films! There really should be a "best comedic performance" category!

Favorite Moment: Ben Stillers impression of Joaquin Phoenix. LOL!!

Second Favorite Moment: When the guy who was presenting with Seth Rogan tried to pronounce the name of the winner and he completely flubbed it. Seth totally cracked up!

Bingo. Considering I saw TDK, The Wrestler, and Iron Man of all the nominated movies I think, I watched more than I ever did, ugh. I feel like a tool.

That song from Slumdog is catchy as shit, I wonder if I'll ever see that movie, gonna wait for BD if I do though.
