I've searched, but couldn't find a thread detailing which Blu-Rays (ie SHOUT'S RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD) have altered soundtracks due to music licensing issues. Is there a master thread documenting these releases?

If there's isn't, we can always start one...
Baby, It's You - I think the music was changed for this, but I can't find any further details about it. Female Trouble - my understanding is that several John Waters titles didn't properly license the music, and thus will only be released with modified soundtracks, but this is the one I'm aware of actually getting released, and as far as I understand it, it's just one song that was replaced. Junior Bonner - all post-theatrical releases in the US (including the blu) have the opening titles song changed; originally, it was "Arizona Morning" by Rod Hart. Love Actually - comparing the original UK release to the original US release, a few music cues were changed. Early Blu-rays only had the UK version, but the "10th Anniversary" release has the US music cues reinstated. That '70's Show - I don't have details, but I believe that a large portion of the licensed music has been replaced throughout the series. Wayne's World - all post-theatrical releases have replaced a snippet of "Stairway to Heaven" with a generic rock riff. Last edited by thatguamguy; 06-07-2019 at 04:02 PM. |

Age of Consent - a few late 60's pop tunes have been replaced by generic instrumental music. They were heard from a transistor radio whenever that kid with the radio around his neck was in the scene
Return of the Living Dead - is missing one original song on the Shout disc |

Can you clarify that? When you say "restores the original music in a couple of scenes", I can't tell which you mean:
1 - the original music was previously changed in a couple of scenes, but has now been fully restored 2 - the original music was previously changed in a bunch of scenes, some of which were restored for the blu |

The newest 10th anniversary US/CAN pressing of Love Actually uses a new HD master of the US version of the film with the proper US theatrical music.

That's the first hearing about changed music on Fatal Instinct. Does this effect Olive's BD (which reportedly has a mono fold down of the stereo track) and all current HD prints? |

IIRC, earliest Shout! BD of The Big Boss, particularly the one in a double feature with Way of the Dragon and using older Fortune Star upscales, should have the Cantonese 2.0 or 5.1 remix tracks with the Pink Floyd riff intact. Starting with the remastered disc spanning from V2 of the Bruce Lee Legacy BD set, they took out the Pink Floyd music on Cantonese track during that certain scene.

Region Free- so I’ll mention it. House MD seasons from the U.K. are missing music, notably the theme song. The early seasons are not available in the US, but the latter are.
US- music intact UK- music missing Audio changes Trainspotting- dubbed scene Get Carter (original)- dubbed in US Ghost Writer- pg13 audio vs R audio Return of the Living Dead- UK Second Sight Blu-Ray has the song Wasn’t there a crime/gangster film that had audio changes, Schooly D and early hip hop/rap was changed, might have been a DVD Last edited by thecalm_7; 06-09-2019 at 03:40 PM. |

Bad Lieutenant had the Schooly D song replaced. I remember reading about that in Video Watchdog, saying that it was going to be reissued with altered audio so I bought the original laserdisc while I still could. It’s pretty prominent in that movie too, so the altered version must be really different. Funny enough there’s a rap song in the 1998 Godzilla movie that riffs the same Led Zeppelin track as the one in Bad Lieutenant, but seems there were no problems clearing that one.
