Another 4K restoration downgraded to Bluray.

I'll buy it of course, but at some point this is going to start to be dissapointing.

I'm convinced the moon would have to shift it's orbit til we see any sort of announcement from Criterion that 4K UHD discs would be released from them.

Who has the rights to the original film? Is it Warner Brothers through its ownership of the RKO library?

It was standard practice in the 30/40s for studios remaking another studio's film to buy out the older film to eliminate reissues/competition, so it may be owned by Sony if Columbia bought it from RKO before the remake.
