Where is in your opinion the best place (online or physical) store to buy speakers and sound systems, I am looking to buy one and I am not sure where to get it.

Depends on where you live if you wanna test drive anything decent. If you find something you like you can more than likely get it for less on line.

any particular website? I know for computer parts I always buy from Newegg.com, but I thought that there selection for speakers was very small, so is there any similar type website for home theater, or is Amazon or that sort of store my best bet?

I would give Crutchfield.com a try.

Check out www.vanns.com and www.jr.com. They both have great selections and pretty good prices.

Go to a local home theatre professional store. There is nothing better than being able to sample all sorts of the various models available. Then, once you know what you want, start shopping around for prices of that model online to see if it would be worth ordering or simply purchasing and bringing home yourself.

Type your zipcode into the "Dealer Locater" tool of Krell, McIntosh, Rotel, Paradigm, Monitor Audio, Totem, etc... and start with the shop that carries the most variety of those in your area.

The shop that carries the majority of them, will "probably" be the one with the most knowledgeable, and most dedicated staff..... dedicated to the craft that is.
