One of the last Lubitsch films that I haven't seen, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

Becuase the only way I think it was available was if you caught it on TCM

I have never heard of this one before, but the synopsis looks like something I would enjoy. I'll have to keep an eye on this discussion and may join the party.

I first heard of this from the Jennifer Jones Biography episode that can be found in The Song of Bernadette DVD. I spent the next 5 years hoping it would pop up on TV. At a decent time. I finally got to see it and I still adore it! I honestly think Jennifer Jones is greatly underrated and I'm so happy more and more of her movies are being given Blu Ray releases (Duel in the Sun, Since You Went Away, Portrait of Jennie, and Gone to Earth being the most notable)! Definitely getting this one!

Believe it or not, I heard of this film via Armond White’s review of the Adam Sandler movie Jack and Jill, haha. Was lucky to catch it on TCM some years later. Also found it on YouTube at one point.

The whole restoration suffers from Fox' current ways of restoring their B&W catalogue : the grading is quite dull, and grain has obviously been managed.
It's unfortunate that Svet, who's usually very able to pick that up, didn't point it out here, because that'd have been a good signal to send to Fox for them to try and stop that.

Yep, it definitely looks like a 4K transfer from Fox, grain massaging and all...

A little bummed by Svet's review. While I understand his less-than-tepid response, I for one love the movie - my wife and I have shared it with friends and family and IMO it improves a lot over repeat viewings.

Cluny's plumbing is one of the great running sex innuendo jokes in the history of movies.

Curious to see this release given the notes on the grading. But clearly I'm still in for a copy.
