Default SVS vs. AV123

So I've settled on purchacing a system from SVS. Specifically the 3 SCS and 2 SBS surround package.

Long story short I stopped by AV123.com and noticed they had a pretty sweet deal for a 5.0 system with floorstanders - ELT525 I believe is the type, dont have it pulled up right now. Now I'm conflicted it seems like a pretty sweet deal not much more than the SVS system I'm looking at.

I'm looking for some sort of input, preferably from some one who has heard one or both of these systems. If it makes a difference to anyone, it will be run with a Pioneer Elite VSX-01 TXH. 90% HT/10% VG usage. Will also be used to watch TV I guess, but I could care less how it sounds then.

In case any one cares, current system is a hodgepodge of components from an old Yamaha stereo and a Sony HTIB, powered by the aforementioned Pioneer.

if you can spare the extra cash, AV123 is offering a sweet deal on the Rocket System.

That does appear to be a great deal, but the price, thats more $ than I can part with at the moment.

Are there no opinions on the listed options? Have I identified the only two options on the internet that HT lovers don't have something to say about? Either way I need to make a decision soon. It appears that both companies have deals going now that will expire in the next do or so.

There's a guy that has a sweet AV123 setup that posts here, but I can't remember his name. I think most people get both company's subs.

Just going off reputation I would go with SVS over AV123 for a more hassle-free experience. While both are Internet-based audio companies, I have heard some questionable things about AV123's business over the years and how they conduct themselves at times.

Thanks for the input all. Went with ELT525 set last Fri. Should have updated. Anyway, they arrived, they look good, sound good so far but haven't done much listening. I'll post some impressions once I have some more time on them and get some proper wire to them (using veeeeeery small HTIB leftover wire for now, ooops).

There was a minor mark on one of them, the very well packed box was shredded open on an edge. Something ripped the boxes and styrofoam inner cover. Thanks, UPS. Part of my job involves sending and recieving a lot of packages every day and frankly I'm impressed that such a well packed product was that messed up. Seriously, F*- UPS. AV123 has been responsive and helpful and are currently working on getting me a refund of some shipping cost. So thats nice.

So excepting the minor hicup, I'm pleased so far with the experience. Still playing with setup and whatnot, again I will write up a better review after a while.

Excellent decision. This is my first real setup as well after my Boston Acoustics which were a great setup but felt I needed something with more handling power. You can check out all the stuff I have from av123 in my gallery. I originally only wanted to upgrade my sub but I got hit with an upgrade bug after just experiencing their sub. After that I was $$$$$ in the hole again. You can't beat av123 quality to price comparison. They have high end quality at an affordable price. I would have loved to have to Rockets but couldn't afford them at the time (before xmas).

Thanks Aramis,
the mini's are actually supposed to be for 2 channel setups but many av123 fans agree that it works just as well in HT. I'm not the 2 channel kind of guy that has room for such gear, so I use it for HT. It may not be the best room setup but it's all I can work with. I wish to have a dedicated room someday.

Great buy pre-diddy, the ELTs are a great speaker.

Beautiful stratas and xvoce efesbe.

One of these days, I'll convince my wife to let me pick-up some LS-6s.

Never in my lifetime would I have spare change to afford LS6. Unless I come across some cash illegally, then that's the first store I'm going to.

Almost got the Paradigm Monitor 11 before I got the mini's, but found a local guy selling them so I went with the more affordable.

I drool when I see those LS6 / LS9.
