Taron Egerton Confirms Kingsman 3 Will Be Eggsy and Harry’s Final Chapter

Kingsman star Taron Egerton expects production on the trilogy closer to get underway in 2020.

“So you have the King’s Man coming, which is a prequel set around 100 years ago, and I’m not in it. But I do know some stuff about it, and it’s really, really exciting, it’s got an amazing cast and it’s an amazing story,” Egerton said at ACE Comic Con Seattle. “And then I think — I think, think, think — we’ll be doing the final chapter in the Harry and Eggsy trilogy next year, I think, yeah.”

“We’ve got to finish off the Eggsy and Harry relationship,” Vaughn told Digital Spy of the mentor relationship between veteran spy Harry Hart (Colin Firth) and Egerton’s Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin.

“The final chapter of their relationship needs to be told, which we’ve got ready to do, and I’m hoping to shoot that later this year or the beginning of next year.”

“But [King’s Man] has been pushed back to February 14th for coming out, and so, yeah, as soon as that’s done, we’re looking forward to… It’s funny,” Vaughn said. “As Taron was saying, he’s looking forward to becoming Eggsy again, because emotionally it’s a lot less draining

‘Kingsman 3’ Already Has a Script, Taron Egerton Confirms

Quote:
At ACE Comic Con Midwest, Egerton was cagey on details about a Kingsman 3, but confirmed “there is a script,” according to Comicbook.

“It’s a really neat idea,” he added. “That plan, at the moment, is that we’d like to do another one, one more time.”

“It was the role that kind of started my film career so I’m always going to feel, you know, a great fondness for the part. I would like to do one more because frankly, I’d like to say goodbye to [Eggsy] in a befitting way and to finish the trilogy. All good things come to an end. It was always imagined as a trilogy and I think it’d be great to finish the story off because I’ve loved playing the character.”

Vaughn should have gone straight into Kingsman 3 instead a prequel.

Well i'm glad they're not waiting to see what the Box office numbers look like for the King's Man, before moving forward with this one.

Probably depends on how The King’s Man does. But it makes sense to plan for it now as well as try and hype up a sequel, in order to draw interest in the new movie.

The third film was originally meant to start shooting immediately after the prequel The King’s Man, but Vaughn previously revealed that the idea was scrapped after the world got "turned upside down" in 2020.

I wonder if The King’s Man along with the muted reception of the second film has maybe stopped the gears in motion for the series now.

I think there’s likely a good third movie in there if they decided to go back-to-basics, left behind the convoluted and contrived world building of the second film. I mean if I remember the second film correctly, they pretty much killed off all the Kingsmen off in the first 15 minutes. So the logical step would be to have Taron Egerton’s character attempt to rebuild the Kingsmen and I suppose have it be Colin Firth’s last hurrah.

It's likely not high up on a priority list for the studio.

And I think Vaughn is busy with work on Argylle which releases early next year. He wants to make that a trilogy so maybe he's distracted by that.

He also said he wants to remake Kick-Ass. Apparently the rights revert back to him in December.

All the Kingsman films have been privately funded & then sold to the studios for distribution.

It's all down to Vaughn & his backers in the end & as you say, he's moved on to Argylle (which sounds remarkably similar to Kingsman anyway).

Personally, I'd love a sequel to The King's Man. Thought it was the best of the three.

I find the franchise vastly overrated. But the prequel has the most promise despite it being dull.

Sucks that a proper third film never got made. The King's Man was actually the first one I saw.

The King's Man killed the franchise?

I dunno why they have to dilly dally on this one especially if it's the last one to get made. Just bang it out and call it a franchise already.

I really loved the first one, the second was good but weighed down by the bloated run time, they should have trimmed it by 20mins and it would have been much better. I liked the prequel but it was more of a side-distraction really

Isn't it because Vaughn has been working on Argylle?

Right. I'm saying they're acting like Kingsman 3 is never happening which would be very unfortunate. I want to see at least this series to get that final film. Vaughn is doing Argylle more than likely because there's been no movement on Kingsmen 3, thus my comment about all the dilly dallying. If the intent is to cap the franchise, then just do it. I'm getting Hellboy III vibes.
