They should do a darker violent version based on the original comic. I was obsessed with them as a kid and enjoyed it way more than the movie, which I still love.

It could be a great ongoing series like the comic that tends to follow lieutenant Kellaway as he tries to find the mask and prevent people from using it after his encounter with it.

SIGH why does every male franchise need a "FEMALE Spin-Off/Reboot. Didn't they learn anything from Ghostbusters 2016.

The Mask is one of my all time favorite comedies I don't want this to happen. Jim Carrey Sequel or none at all

Even Better Work a Deal with Warner Brothers and adapt the comic where The Joker gets a hold of the mask and becomes even more batshit crazy than he already is

Is the original ruined yet, or did that happen with the sequel?

Amy Schumer and Mccarthy for the female mask?

Honestly Kate Mckinnon would probably be the best cause she can basically do the Jim Carrey style mannerisms

Yes, the original comics are much darker. It's almost like Looney Tunes mixed with horror in a way.

All of the Mask comics are dark and twisted.

Gotcha. It seems like they're going for the flavor of the 1994 film instead of going that darker route. If they were to go there, I'd be interested but it just looks like they're trying to do a pale Jim Carrey imitation.

Oh am I heated up now over this, which I'm sure will subside months after the movie comes out where I'll then say, "oh yeah that female led mask remake, forgot all about it."

This was adapted from existing source material so there's nothing wrong in going back to it. However, will they actually delve into said source material, or will this be like Total Recall where that's what they say they're doing but instead lift every beat from the first movie?
