I think the end of G2 showed that Tom and Michael's relationship was strained.

The ending of Part II told us everything we ever needed to know about Michael Corleone. Any additional information is redundant, as is all of Part III.

Nope, I know what Godfather II is about. But I thought we were talking about Godfather III, taking place many years later after Michael has had a good long time to contemplate next steps.

I remember Duvall was sore about it. I think he still is, LOL. It was all about money, apparently, no matter what else comes up. Duvall basically admitted that at the time. He thought Pacino's salary being four times his own was an outrage and he simply would not be in the film.

Had he not bowed out it would have been a much different film to.

Sophia is bad in GFIII but Andy Garcia is who totally ruins the film for me. If Coppola can edit out all of the Sophia Coppola and Andy Garcia parts and still make a good film about Michael then I am all for it.

It is not my interpretation, it is Coppola's own. Have you ever listened to him in person talking about his life and his movies? It is a very rare privilege, indeed. I'm very glad I got to hear him in person.
