The ending of Part II told us everything we ever needed to know about Michael Corleone. Any additional information is redundant, as is all of Part III.

Once you've gazed at the bottomless abyss of a broken man's soul, you don't need to continue staring for another 3 hours.

The essence of Coppola's masterpiece may have escaped you.

Nope, I know what Godfather II is about. But I thought we were talking about Godfather III, taking place many years later after Michael has had a good long time to contemplate next steps.

I don't care to discuss your interpretation of these movies any further. Thanks a lot, but no thanks.

I remember Duvall was sore about it. I think he still is, LOL. It was all about money, apparently, no matter what else comes up. Duvall basically admitted that at the time. He thought Pacino's salary being four times his own was an outrage and he simply would not be in the film.
Had he not bowed out it would have been a much different film to.

Hagen vs Corleone would have been epic

Sophia is bad in GFIII but Andy Garcia is who totally ruins the film for me. If Coppola can edit out all of the Sophia Coppola and Andy Garcia parts and still make a good film about Michael then I am all for it.

It is not my interpretation, it is Coppola's own. Have you ever listened to him in person talking about his life and his movies? It is a very rare privilege, indeed. I'm very glad I got to hear him in person.

I. too, am basing my posts here on things Coppola has said with regards to the approach taken to GFIII.

I’ll never understand the motivation behind willfully chiming in on a particular thread just to say a film sucks and you don’t understand why others are interested in a release.
