Default Subwoofer auto power

I have a Sony SA-W2500 sub. With the power save to auto, when it turns on or off there is a distinct clicking sound. Do all subs do this or just my inexpensive Sony?

I'm not sure I've heard other Sony powered sub owners talking about the same problem. Most powered subs have a "soft on" power-up function, which protects the speaker from potentially damaging initial signals from the amplifier. If your sub is under warranty, consider taking advantage of that.

I have the Polk PSW505. It does not make any noise when it powers on or off. I have it set on auto/standby too. I'd follow up with the manufacture.

Ive got a Sony SA-WM500 sub, I know exactly what you are talking about. Its very annoying and is why I simply turn off the "auto" feature.

I have a similar click sound on a top of the line Paradigm sub. It is a little distracting but I've got used to it.

the reason probably why its doing that is because the units power isnt isolated. it can also happen when the sub doesnt detect a signal coming in from the receiver. i wouldnt worry about it.
