Hounddog Blu-ray Review

Was this not released? It was supposed to come out this Tuesday but amazon.com had now postponed my delivery until mid-March!

Has anyone seen this movie, or are you blind buying?

If you have seen it, comments please.

This movie was absolutely trashed by critics. A whopping 17% total on Rotten Tomatoes.

I have seen this film and it was ok for a Sunday viewing. However I wouldnt find it worth investing in as i believe its only worth a one time viewing.

Hope this helps

I've seen the movie. I had to drive to LA to see it and the 1 theater it was playing, haha.

And It's also out on DVD now. I very much enjoyed it, this has taken so much negativity all because of the Dakota Fanning rape scene (which you can't even really see btw) and I thought the actual film was good. But there is no denying that Dakota Fanning carries this one, she is very impressive!

I didn't care for it. None of the acting stands out and the movie feels like a bunch of cliches stringed together.

Default Hounddog Blu-ray

Does anyone know anything about this movie? I had it pre-ordered at amazon.com and I just got an email from them saying that the order was cancelled. Is there not going to be a blu-ray anymore?

I already posted a thread about this ... and I too don't know what is going on.
seems the release date was moved, but now I think it's just cancelled.

I saw the March 17th date too, but if it was March 17th I don't know why they would have just cancelled the orders. Hounddog is nowhere to be found on amazon.com now. You can't even order the dvd.

Actually the rape scene was toned down after it was originally shown at Sundance back in 2007. Apparently it was a lot worse than the version that was released in theaters and on DVD. That is where all of the controversy and hate for the movie came from. I remember there being a lot of talk of this being the movie that would end Dakota Fanning's short career. I guess with her roles in Push, Coraline and the upcoming Twilight sequel, New Moon she has chosen to do different roles from what she has done in the past.

Do you know for sure that it was heavily edited? I've seen a lot of arguing about this. I still haven't seen any version of the movie so I have no idea. Most people that have seen the dvd though seem to think it's not that bad and don't know what all the fuss is about. Because with this disappearing from amazon and a lot of sites it really does seem like someone is trying to make the movie disappear completely.

I heard it was the same version, but you could be right.
The DVD is 100% the same version I saw in theaters.

She did an awesome job in PUSH, but Secret Life Of Bees is def her best movie yet.

I wouldn't say heavily edited. When I read about it this was back in 2007 and they said they were going to re-edit the scene. I guess the version shown at Sundance was more shocking than what was shown at theaters. They had more than enough time to work on it because it was first shown at Sundance in January of 2007 and wasn't released in theaters until September of 2008. But obviously it is still pissing people off because it is being yanked from stores and websites as others have reported.

Default Blu-ray released Oct 6 ?

The Blu-ray version is listed as sold out at Amazon one day after the release date. I did not even know it was being released at all. I just happened to notice the Amazon price reductions listed somewhere and Houndog Blu-ray was reduced about $1 or so, but unavailable for now. There may very well be some sort of conspiracy.

I know it's been worked on, but for whatever reason it's just never been released... I'm not sure why, maybe there's a legal issue that's still being dealt with or something.?
