Upgrading Polk RM6750 speakers (w/ Onkyo Sr606) - Blu-ray Forum

So I am looking into upgrade my speakers for obvious reasons. Here is my Polk set now:

I am planning on getting Polk T15 for backs :

I am planning on getting Polk CS10 for center:

Now what I am not sure is what to get for the fronts. It seems like current Polk speakers for fronts are all out of my price range. I am looking to spend 200$ or less on two front speakers.

So far I have my eye on Sony SSF5000:

At 150$ a pair this is certainly in my price range. Aside from the black wood siding being kind of fugly they seem like a good value.

Will having half Sony/Polk setup cause any issues? Is there a better speaker set in this price range to get? Does anyone know any online stores that are still blowing out the Polk 50s? Would they be better? How much better will this level of speaker sound compared to the current Polk system I have?

Thanks for any guidance I have been searching this forum for a few days an gathering some info but am getting close to purchase time!

Why don't you jump on the T90e's at new egg 179.99 each, no shipping no tax!!! I just bought em haven't hooked em up yet but it will Timbre Match that center you bought which is pretty important. I just bought that same center. They are a great deal, and gorgeous. I will update once I get to plug em in and hear em though. It doesn't sound very far out of your budget either.

Whoops just saw those Sony's were 150 a pair not each. So I guess just disregard my previous comment. Sorry. LOL. But the general consensus is if you can match the fronts try your best to, if not it's not the end of the world. Have you went and auditioned those sonys? Oh and newegg had the Monitor 50's for like 90 bucks shipped. That was 2 or 3 days ago now they jumped to 129! Ugh. Still not very far out of your range, but they definitely just jumped up in price. A Circuit City by you might have those TSI 300's for 120 a piece also. But most stores have been picked clean.

Oh I did not notice the 50s on Newegg. 129 no tax or shipping still seems a pretty good deal. Only puts me 60$ over my "budget". I think I might buy fronts first.. then center next paycheck.. and then the backs after that. Might give me more room to spend more. Thanks for the suggestion.

Would it make more sense to get a cheaper center for the setup? Something like the CSM?

I doubt you will have any luck but if there's a Circuit City near you look for a CS1 or CS2 there on sale. I picked up a CS2 which is equivalent to the CS20 dirt cheap. I called up Polk Audio directly, and they said the CS20 is just a cosmetic change from the CS2.

It gives you an option to look online for discontinued CS1 and CS2s cheap without worrying about loss in power.
