Who cares if its an odd choice for a 4K release? The more UHDs that get released the better!

Not one I need to upgrade from blu-Ray but hopefully Red Heat and Universal Soldier follow soon as I’ll definitely be getting those two.

Shrug. I don't even think I've ever heard of this Stallone flick.

I've never heard of it either, but after CineSicko's unhinged raving, I intend to check it out.

The first three are well and truly due for upgrade. Those old BDs with lossy audio and mpeg-2 encoding...

I think the only thing keeping SAW from getting a 4K release is that Wan hasn't done an HDR grade for it. He finished the 4K remastering for the film a wee bit before HDR and UHD-BD came around - he meticulously re-colored it in SDR the way he wanted to do it, so you know he's gonna want to go back and color it right for the HDR releases - and that has to be done before it can hit UHD-BD. It will likely see release for the next anniversary, unless it gets released to go with the upcoming SAW spin-off film in cinemas or for the home video release.

Wish it would also include the original 2.0 Stereo Track option

Hoping maybe it will be on the disc

Hmm, I have to admit, the UK art for this is really good (other than the huge title font):

I have the Lionsgate discs for the Rambo trilogy but I may have to go Canal for this one...

I draw the line at importing merely for better artwork, especially when it's just gonna be uglied up by ratings logos.

Doesn't really matter as SC authored/encoded them anyway and I'll bet cash money that the same will apply to The Doors, Lock Up, UniSol, Red Heat etc...

That artwork does look pretty sweet though!!

Very doubtful. None of the Rambos had the 2.0 audio on them.

Oh, I know, and since the discs will probably be identical, it's just a question of if I want to wait for the UK release and spend a bit more to get it here. Ultimately, it could go either way...it may well depend on what else is out in the UK in September.

I've been curious for a bit, why do we get both a StudioCanal and Lionsgate version of the same movie. I'd doubt this title will support the effort for 1 release. I'm not knocking it for people that like/want the movie. It just seems weird for a niche title. I've seen the same dual release on quite a few things. I don't get it.

Ok, I don't want to take this off topic. I get "distributors" .. But there's a lot more weirdness involved with these relationships. I'll just chalk it up to another aspect of studio world that makes no sense outside the 3 people who get an extra $4.

StudioCanal own the movie. Lionsgate are their distribution partner in the US. Pretty simple really, whereas in Europe SC release stuff under their own steam in several markets though not all, e.g. Eagle Pictures release SC product in Italy, and several years ago they didn't have a UK releasing arm of their own, they went through a now defunct label called 'Optimum Releasing' (with a big fat lol at the irony of several discs being anything but optimal).
