Arrow Dylan Dog: Dead of Night

Interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing Routh in more roles. Anyone else interested?

Quote:
Hyde Park Entertainment Group and Platinum Studios have commenced production on "Dead of Night," based on the best-selling Italian comic book series, "Dylan Dog," created by Tiziano Sclavi. Principal photography is taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) stars as Dylan - a reluctant private investigator who is drawn into the world of vampires, werewolves and the undead -- and the film is being directed by Kevin Munroe (TMNT).

Munroe brings a fresh take to the genre by focusing less on the transformation from human to non-human and more on the seamless interaction between the living and the undead. Writers Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly (Sahara, Conan the Barbarian) have taken the world of Dylan Dog out of a European setting and given it a New Orleans flavor with its rich bayou and marshland backdrop.

The comic book series has sold more than 56 million units worldwide and has been translated into 17 languages since its debut in 1986.

Actually it was called Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetary Man) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109592/. This italian film from the early 90's starred Rupert Everett and was based on the Dylan Dog comics it actually has a very Evil Deadish feel to it and is definitely worth checking out. They were going to do an american remake in the late 90's with the same director (Michel Sovi) and Everett but it looks like this will be the new incarnation.

No more like a remake of an adaptation. It was rumored they were going to remake it for american audiences in the late 90's but that never materialized. So this will be the first american adaptation of the Dylan Dog comics.

Some pics of the movie have surfaced:

Quote:
Ex-Superman Brandon Routh stars as Dylan, a penniless nightmare investigator who investigates the murder of his friend in a New Orleans populated by undead and supernatural creatures. Five of the websites who attended the set visit have debuted the first batch of photos from the film, including our first look at Routh as Dylan, Sam Huntington as his sidekick Marcus, and Taye Diggs as Vargas, the leader of a family of vampires.

Nice. I doubt I'll love it as much as Dellamorte, Dellamore but I'm in.

Vampires are straight outta Buffy. Brandon Routh seems miscast as well.

I actually think it looks entertaining. I generally stay away from films like this, but I think I will give it a rent. Who can resist Peter Stormare?

Having no love for Buffy, it didn't come to mind. The vamps look rather generic, though. And the werewolf design was too Teen Wolf-ish for my tastes but the humour is spot on. I just hope this is just as macabre as the comics in terms of its humour.

looks awful to me. Too run-of-the-mill. And Amercanization of foreign properties never wins with me. I'll stick to Dellamorte Dellamore.

Well, at the end of the trailer it does say that it's in post. Maybe they'll clean it up a bit. Here's hoping.
