AVC encoding and uncompressed audio! That's ALL I want! I have all the extras I'm ever going to want on the standard dvd releases. I have the original dvd, the 25 year anniversary release, and the version as seen on tv!

This fall and on into winter is going to be so so expensive for me. Lol, oh well here's to Halloween being another title to feed the Blu-ray addiction.

From the sounds of things, there are a lot of people who are gona be penny-less this autumn/winter lol!

Thankfully, i have OCD to keep my buying at bay (is that something to be thankful for?)

Won't be too bad for me these coming months... See signature

Forgive the dumb question. Is this for the original or the Rob Zombie remake?

God I was tempted to pick it up! But I refrained in anticipation of the blu ray version. I would expect that the blu ray will have the same features as the new remastered version, only with HD picture and sound.

This one is a must buy for me. I have it on PSP, SD, and a numbered edition on VHS. The next few months are going to be putting me deeper into debt.

Unfortunately, Halloween II is a Universal Pictures film, so if it comes out before their "switch", it'l be HD DVD only...

Unfortunately it turns out that this new DVD isn't a new version after all. It's a repackaging of the 1999 video transfer. In 2003 Anchor Bay released a Divimax version with a new, more detailed transfer, but the colors were off because no color correction was done.

I don't understand why they didn't do proper color correction on the new transfer and release that.

I'm concerned that they're going to use the 1999 transfer for the Blu-Ray release. If they had a different transfer, wouldn't they have used it for the DVD?

Here are a couple of reviews of the most recent DVD:

I just got a response back from Anchor Bay about the Halloween Blu-Ray video transfer. They're using the Divimax transfer with corrected colors, so I imagine it looks FANTASTIC!

And here's the first review:
