Veronica Mars: The Complete First Season (actually Season 4) from WAC

I loved the new opening sequence, specially Kristen Bell's shot. She looked trully beautiful. I like the cover, but I would've prefer it being "four" instead of "first", but technically it's the first season of the new series.

I would love a custom cover with the style used in the Opening with that Bell's shot in it. Maybe one day I will.

Maybe they’ll try to get the attention of a certain part of the fan base and release Veronica Mars: The LoVe Years: Season 1-3

The absurdity of calling this season 1 overshadowed that it might be a good sign that there will be more

I was thinking the same thing. Planning on getting this day 1. Recommend that everyone spread the word on this release so we maybe get a chance of the rest of the series. I’d also suggest picking up a copy of the movie if you haven’t yet since that still seems to be in print

"The Complete Original UK Series" just meant there was no US involvement at all yet. With VM, you can't have two season 1's of the same series... and they can say it's not the "same" series but it is. It's just going to cause confusion, especially with new fans.

If they are dead set on this being "season one" they need to elaborate on the series, copy Will & Grace and call it "Veronica Mars: The Revival/The Return - The Complete First Season," or drop the season number all together and retroactively add a subtitle like Torchwood does and Strike Back does in the UK but stupidly doesn't in the US... call it "Veronica Mars: Spring Break" or something and any future seasons could have them as well relating to the arc that season.

I would actually love a subtitle which is what I meant by not really liking that the movie is just called Veronica Mars. Especially after the books, I want everything to go back and get a fun noir subtitle.

I just wrapped up the final episode of season three last week, the movie this week, and was going to start the new season, when I decided that I would first read both books, as apparently they are canon. Now I'm thinking I may as well wait for this release. No commercials at least (I have the free, Spotify Hulu add-on).

Oh, I know, though it's actually only the first book that is read by Bell, unfortunately. I've read the first book before, but just never got around to the second book.

Since TVShowsOnDVD reported it today, I tweeted WB and WAC saying I'm glad it's coming out, but why call it The Complete First season, they should distinguish them somehow like "Veronica Mars: The Revival - The Complete First Season" lol

My biggest criticism is the opening with the True Detective rip-off titles and awful theme song cover.

I am really surprised at the wording for the title since even Hulu is referring to it as Season 4. This isn’t a Twin Peaks thing where the everyone wanted a different name for it.

I was really happy with season 4 and I didn't mind the big twist, let's just say the show was always the strongest when it focussed on Veronica solving cases/fighting for the underdog. And maybe her dynamic with Keith. That's always been the core for me and that will remain.

There's so much hate online, but I wish people would focus on the entire season, instead of just hating the season, because of one final twist. But hey, I guess those people watched it for other reasons.

It won't have any impact on a potential S5 though. Most people who claim to hate the show now will still tune in for a S5. Most people I know loved it though; they're just not the hardest screamers.

Regarding the blu-ray: I'm happy it's getting a blu-ray release at all, but I wish they had named it season 4, or Veronica Mars: the revival (like someone else mentioned aswell). I'll still buy it though. I doubt they'll release S1-3 on blu-ray. I kinda wish they'd release a box with 1-3, the movie and S4 (and following seasons). Doubt that will ever happen....considering S4 is from Hulu, etc.

Seasons 1-3 aren't being released on blu-ray (for now, at least) because, according to someone in the know, the 1080p HD version available on Hulu and Vudu is only an upscale of the 720p/1080i broadcast masters, which isn't sufficient for a full-fledged 1080p blu-ray release. The entire show would need to be remastered from the original 16mm film elements, and that cost is most likely a factor in what's holding up a blu-ray release.

Was this the case for a lot of shows at the time (like the 2000’s version of “shot on film, edited on tape”)? Get them to “good enough for broadcast and DVD” essentially?

Basically. It's the same reason why we don't have Seasons 1-5 of Smallville on blu-ray.

I find that really hard to believe. That show isn't THAT old. WB only has 720p/1080i broadcast masters?

That's the ridiculous reason WB gave, even though Season 5 was released on HD-DVD but couldn't be released on Blu-Ray for some reason....
