I was recently gifted a Klipsch R-5502-W II, I was hoping on putting it in my game room since im currently using a $30 center speaker, but the speaker needs 16" to fit in a wall, unfortunately my studs are 14" apart.
I was thinking of cutting the studs and building a box to fit the speaker inside the wall, while also using the box to connect the studs back. Anybody run into this before and have some tips ideas? Thank you. |

I do not think that would be an issue. If you really have a concern, you can install additional studs in the middle of the adjacent studs or horizontal braces between the studs (but that is likely overkill).

Not only an overkill, but a lot of labor. You'll have to buy the materials, tear down the wall, build additional studs behind it, re-drywall the opening and paint. That's practically a whole day's work or two.
