Default HBO's "Succession" (Season 4)

Anyone else watching this? Season 2 just started and it's off to a great start. Reviews seem to indicate that this will be even better than Season 1. I hope that's true.

I kinda hate watch it. It features great acting, but these are the most unlikeable, nastiest people ever. Even Shiv, who was a fave of mine in S1, has become a monster.

The scene where they
[Show spoiler]have the servants and wait staff toss all of the expensive seafood in the trash
, as opposed to just letting them take it, was infuriating. Everything you think about the rich and elite, will make you hate them more.

I'll see how the next few episodes go. After the depressing Euphoria, bleak The Boys, I'm ready for a comedy!

Bring on Silicon Valley! I'm missing Veep real bad!

Yeah the first few episodes of Season 1 were rough until I adjusted to the fact that we're not supposed to like any of these people (I think Tom bothers me the most lol). But the family power dynamics and the corporate maneuvering are compelling enough to keep me interested. I keep reading that this is supposed to be satire but I'm not really sure that it is. Maybe at times, but for the most part the show seems to play it straight and let viewers decide what to think of the Roys. Also, the performances are phenomenal.

Episode 2 was good. The stuff with Kendall and Roman kinda went as expected (
[Show spoiler]Logan never cared about Vaulter, he just wanted to play the sons off of each other and test that Kendall would do what he's told
), but it's pretty obvious that
[Show spoiler]Shiv's not gonna inherit the empire
like she seems to think she will. It's interesting how clear the show has made it that the child Logan cares the most about by far is
[Show spoiler]Waystar Royco itself
lol

They closed it down for the kid's birthday party, so it looked emptier than it normally is. Although I think Tom was previously in charge of the parks, so they probably aren't doing so well anyway lol

I read it like Kendall is
[Show spoiler]fully broke down, and going to finally rise up in some way.
I honestly don't think we'll know whats what as far as true feelings till they blatantly put it in front of us lol, which goes to how good a job the show is doing.

Really strong season so far, and I loved how Episode 4 pulled the rug out from under us in terms of the dynamic between Kendall and Shiv. Felt like it was building up to something far more confrontational than what we ended up getting. Those are really the only two siblings I wanna follow at this point; Roman's... Roman and Connor gonna Connor lol

The opening theme song is one of the best parts.

This season has been beyond stellar. It’s currently my favorite show on air right now and this past episode delivered hard. Cherry Jones was a great addition and even though I enjoyed the mess that was the dinner scene, the final blow between her and Logan was really well crafted.

Truly great show that can get you to sympathize with such unlikable characters.

It to me screams sopranos of how you start to sympathize with these truly wretched people.

[Show spoiler]Tom for being abused so badly as out of touch as he is

Shiv for being the cast aside but secretly capable

Roman for maybe starting to build a foundation

Kendall for maybe becoming a leader through that tragedy

Connor well as someone said is just gonna Connor.

Last night's episode was great. Hysterically funny but also incredibly dramatic towards the end there.
[Show spoiler]I was getting a little concerned that the deal was going a little too smoothly.
Guess not anymore. Can't wait to see how this all turns out.

It's a great show as far the acting goes, I love watching them all play off one another. However, the story is starting to feel like a screwball comedy at times.

The boars on the floor was just the beginning.

Then they start acting like complete idiots, in front of important people, they're trying to do business with.
[Show spoiler]The dinner scene where the dad insults the mom, and Shiv let's out the plan to make her CEO, was entertaining but unrealistic.
Shiv has always been presented as the smarter of the kids, now she's as dopey as the rest of them.

Roman disclosing his weird non-sex life with his girlfriend, again AT THE DINNER TABLE, was bizarre. His weird kinky thing with Gerri, again why??

Now in the last episode,
[Show spoiler]the kids are at this speaking event, and AGAIN start a pissing contest in front of all these people.
Are they supposed to be idiots? Do they not know professionalism?

My favorite character is Gerri, she's awesome. Too bad they keep this Roman kink thing going, it's off putting.

Still love it for the acting, but I'm now referring to it as a comedy.

The kids' ineptitude at times is the point, though. None of them are really completely ready to succeed Logan. Shiv may be the best of the four but she has her weaknesses as well (basically that she doesn't really know how to "play the game"). The thing with Logan is that he loves the company more than any of the kids, and by the end of the Argestes episode, he realizes that he
[Show spoiler]really could lose the company because the PGM deal falls through
. So I really wanna see what Logan does next. He's getting backed into a corner and none of the kids really know how to help (
[Show spoiler]Kendall and Roman just do what they're told, albeit in their own ways, Shiv's gotten on Logan's bad side so who knows how much he'll entrust her with, and Conner's a joke anyway
).
