Default BD-P1000 plays BD-R but not BD-RE, why!?!

Hi,
I've just purchased a UK Samsung BD-P1000. It wouldn't play my BD-R discs so I used the 1.2 firware and it now plays them fine. However, it won't play a movie burned on my Sony BD-RE (rewritable) disc? Why is this? The disc plays fine on my PC. Can anyone explain this? Many thanks,
Pete

It might have something to do with the different ink used in the disk recording surface. Many DVD players were not able to play back DVD-RW but played back DVD-R just fine.

Thanks for your speedy reply.

I've just realised that two other of my BD-R discs now won't play (they are more recent movies too), whereas my other bd-r discs play fine. Any idea why this is? I use Cyberlink BD Solution to burn the ISO files. I also have AVS Disc Crator. Do you recommend these?
