![]() ![]() (Joseph Losey, 1968) Release date: 18 November 2019 Limited Blu-ray Edition (World Blu-ray premiere) Joseph Losey’s lurid and often misunderstood drama stars the great Elizabeth Taylor (Suddenly, Last Summer) as an ageing London prostitute who befriends a young woman (Mia Farrow, See No Evil) that reminds her of her long-dead daughter. As the bizarre relationship between the two evolves, the appearance of Robert Mitchum (Cape Fear), as Farrow’s abusive stepfather, ignites deep emotions and dark passions. I would like to get this just for the stupid "new" footage that was added to the TV broadcast. Networks used to do weird stuff back then to movies. What ABC-TV did to "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was truly bizarre. They made the whole movie a flashback and had George Lazenby doing narration. It was kind of a strange forgotten part of movie history back in the late 60's and early 70's.

I am watching the Kino Lorber release of this movie and the image shake, up and down, is beyond the pale. It turns up about halfway through the feature beginning most prominently during the meeting in the antique shop and continuing from there.
There’s no way that this motion picture was ever presented in the cinema in this manner. |

Watched this today. I enjoy going into these films with no idea what I'm going to see. The Indicator release looks and sounds great. This is a strange movie covering a sensitive topic and it took me a while to understand what is going on. There are good performances from the main characters. I enjoyed watching the scenes added for TV in an attempt to make more sense of the main story. Loads of extras as usual from Powerhouse / Indicator.
