Pretty sure Ryan Hansen is really good friends with Kristen Bell... that is the only explanation I can think of as to why Dick is still around.

I like this, because it is an honest assessment. I don't agree with it but I have to say good for you for having a reason to not like him. Too many just throw it out there, that they don't care, no reason, they just don't care for him.

He is actually quite talented and I've seen him in a lot of other things, probably most of what he's done, because I see just about everything. I thought that he was playing the part, as written and directed, perfectly. He was playing Logan at an older age with all of this other life crap under his belt. Bell was playing Veronica like she was still 16, which made me a little uncomfortable, but, again, she was playing it perfectly, as written and as directed. Actors are often blamed for what directors have told them to do. I'm just throwing that out there.

He looked and acted like much more of a normal human being in the movie and season four. I didn’t mind that Logan hanging around
He did an excellent job of conveying Logan's age, especially in contrast to who Logan was as a screwed up teenager. That issue of aging and maturing could have been played out with Bell's character and is what I would have liked to see this season. The contrast wasn't there for her and she could have played it, had they not been pulled back to the snarkier, less mature version of Veronica that is, understandably, so very tempting to focus on.

The way actors are thrown away like garbage by producers and directors is part of why no person in my family, after that last uncle, was allowed to become an actor, and I do mean allowed. The rampant degradation, making people feel like how they look is all that matters, the expectation of perfect conformity and the near pervasive dislike of God in Hollywood rounds out the picture of why we simply won't allow this in our family.

All of my actor friends suffer under the endless scrutiny of Hollywood, not twitter or you guys here, the Hollywood machine itself. Given how hard it is to live under all of that, being fired from a job you truly loved is just too much to have to deal with. Life is hard enough. So, yes, I feel really sorry for the man. He shouldn't have been thrown out.

Actors know what they are getting into when they go into the movie business. He shouldn’t have been “thrown out” because it’s going to make his life harder? So we should now sacrifice story progression because of an an actors feelings?

I have to say, that is really out of context. I was responding to a very specific issue, the issue of concern for the actor. He shouldn't have been let go because that decision cuts off every single story they could have told using that character and left them with fewer stories to tell, where Veronica is concerned. Logan is a living memory of who Veronica is and has been, with a very different perspective from her other friends and family. There's simply no end to the stories they could tell with him still in the mix. But, again, in answer to the issue of why I care about what happened to this specific actor, my previous response pretty much says it all.

In reading a few new articles, yes I'm keeping too close of an eye on this situation, RT has now claimed he wishes Season Five to be a season-long mystery with no little mysteries of the week, yes, in direct opposition to his prior statements. So, he first said, like Agatha Christie mysteries, one detective, Mars, travelling around and solving a mystery of the week, was his goal. He has now relented, enough, that he is back to Mars solving one large mystery (although I happen to prefer one large mystery with a mystery of the week and can't imagine why it can't be both) and she will be pulled back to Neptune by Keith Mars (score one for fans of keeping the show in Neptune), instead of traveling the Winchester back-roads.

He has directly, in two interviews, referenced a willingness to change the show to get a renewal, where a couple of weeks ago he had said the opposite. I have to say, good for him. That is about the most grown-up attitude any show-runner can have and I was wondering where that guy went since that is more of who he used to be, putting the show first, ahead of his own creative goals.

What is more interesting to me is that, at the same time, JD is doing the rounds, giving stellar interview after stellar interview, reminding people of why they love Logan so much, all of his charm and personality. He is keeping his character forefront in the discussion and, as a result, Logan is forefront in the discussion over at Hulu. At this point, I'm really hoping that RT can make that last little leap and just tell Hulu that Logan wasn't in the car and his disappearance will be part of Veronica's next big case. If he relents, agrees to the resurrection, keeping Veronica and her dad in Neptune, keeping the promise of lots of Veronica-series regulars coming back, again and again, taking the challenge of writing a marriage, which is actually quite difficult, as marriage is hard, he just might get a fifth season and, more importantly, he just might get a chance to undo the worst thing he has ever done on film.

If he does, he's my hero.

It's no surprise that he has to go back on his own words. You simply can't change VM into a completely new show and hope that the fanbase will follow you all the time. VM needs to stay true to its own roots and be more like season 1/2 which were arguably the best seasons so far.

It's a surprise to me. He had been very convincing in his assertions that he wouldn't bow to pressure, like a child insisting they shouldn't have to brush their teeth. (I may have been that child.) I had started to think he might have changed, as many people do with age and increasing ego. This backtracking has me very hopeful but, also, it has me thinking he is still that same good guy, prioritizing keeping all of those people working, keeping the show on the air, making fans happy, all of the things you want a show-runner to care about. Which begs the question, why would that guy, a good show-runner, ever think, under any creative circumstances, that killing off that character was a good idea.

I'm stunned that he's rethinking all of this. I just hope he keeps going and fixes the mess he's made. Imagine a fifth season of Veronica Mars that actually does go back to amazing season-long mysteries with a few cases-of-the-week and lots of Keith and all of her friends and Logan, all added together with an aging, maturing Veronica struggling with all of the real-life problems being in your thirties brings up. That show could be amazing. RT has me feeling genuinely hopeful that he can fix this mess and negotiate his way to a fifth season. My luck, he'll screw it up, but, for today, I'm taking what he is saying as a good sign.

I liked season 4's mostly classic VM more than FBI-VM.

FBI-VM.... Just looking at it makes me a little nauseous. Listening to it is worse.

Yeah.... I think any alternate-reality take on a great character is interesting for a time, until you remember how much better things were "the old way", and start to get annoyed, like when you come home and see that somebody's decided to move the sofa.

Yeah, but maybe the sofa being moved can make the place look like new and refreshing.

Signed up to Hulu (for the first time) a couple of weeks ago just for VM season 4. Binged and loved every minute (except perhaps the last 10 mins). Hopefully it wont be another decade before we get a season 5.

Season 4 is coming to DVD only in October. When the Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls came to DVD it was also on Blu-ray. Was hoping WB would do the same with this.

It's rumored to be getting a Warner Archive blu-ray the same day as DVD. WB just haven't formally announced it yet. Their Archive releases typically aren't announced until right before the street date.
